So for future reference, if it helps, my unsolicited advice would be to put the bridge plate on first (No radius), the bracing comes after. Coming along beautifully!

Chris - The guitar is looking good... There's no shame in making mistakes. Every builder I've ever met has a ton of stories about their mistakes and how they learned from them. As for your numbness. Be careful with it. There are a ton of little nerves in your hands and if you are putting too much pressure on them they can bruise and eventually get damaged. As you get older it becomes more and more important to take breaks and listen to what your hands are telling you. There are hand stretches and exercises you can do to help the blood flow and to help keep your nerves healthy. I've got my fingers crossed for you on the drum sander... Once you get it, you'll never understand how you worked without it. -Greg

Thanks! I will have to research the numbness thing. I had forgotten that I experienced that during the first build until it happened again today. I appreciate you taking the time to type out your comment. And thanks for watching!

Your project is looking great. Your fine craftsmanship shows in every video. Tip: Jerry Rosa also uses an iron on top of the wood to heat the glue to work the piece loose. See you next time.

Thanks for watching and commenting! Yes, I do recall Jerry heating up the wood itself sometimes, now that you say it.

Good recovery on the bracing. I don't have the issue with numbness in my thumb, but I think it may be due to holding the chisel differently. I don't recall putting pressure on it. I will have to pay attention next time. The idea to radius the bridge plate is interesting. I haven't seen anyone do that either. I like the way you question things like that.

Thanks for the response about numbness, Mark! I don‘t know, I might just be holding the chisels incorrectly. I will try to pay attention next time to see if I notice anything particular about how I‘m gripping them.

Good job I am looking for a drum sander myself and have not found one that is affordable

Thanks, Grizzly is the cheapest you can get and still have a quality tool I think. It’s crazy how stupid expensive stuff gets going up from there.

Where did you get your finger plane? Thanks Michael
@CMRWoodworks2 жыл бұрын
It’s from Lie Nielsen. It’s their violin makers plane which is listed as a block plane.

Most guitat makers especially the more modern ones, make the top of the guirar flat, and only the back is radiused, that makes it easier to set the neck angle, intonation and all the fine tuning of the guitar. Just my observation.

How thick did your bridge plate end up?
@CMRWoodworks2 жыл бұрын
Right around 2.5mm. I should say that I left it a little thicker and radiused it down to 2.5 in the middle so the edges are just barely under 2.5.
