I had to replace a window regulator in my VW. The yellow connector in the door is the side airbag. Be sure to disconnect your battery before doing any work as your airbag trouble light will stay on.

I’m actually going to pin this detail as I didn’t know and it will help other owners. That’s good advice. Nobody would want to mess with airbags. Thanks for sharing!

This is perfect timing. I just bought an used Beetle in superb condition. But this one struggles opening the driver side latch and I need to try several times. I am trying to take the latch mechanism out for trouble shooting and your vidieo shows all the steps. Thank you very much!

I’ve just subscribed, I’ve got a beetle too here in the uk. Great video. I’ve just hd to recharge my battery after 3 days without driving..is that normal. What battery does the beetle come with..?

Hello there! I’m honored this video helped! I’m literally going to film a video about everything batteries today. But I’ll share some information up ahead: Yes, Beetles drain batteries over a period of time without being driven. It has happened to mine in just a week of no drive. I believe this has to do with the many computers within the machine. But l’ll research on that to give a better answer. The type of battery used for Beetle A5 (2012-2019) is the type H6 AGM. Be sure it meets with this spec, especially the AGM that is for high electric demands. It’s recommended to always wear protective gear when handling these batteries as they are lead acid and it can be corrosive on skin. Always disconnect the negative terminal first, and then the positive terminal. And connect again the other way around (positive first). I hope this helps. I should have a video about this soon.

Hi thanks for the great video. Quick question I live in Australia my Beetle is right hand drive are these different on each side as I can buy them fairly cheap from USA and eBay but I’m not sure if I’ll be able to use them on a right hand drive?
@thebeetlemanАй бұрын
Hello! Good question! Unfortunately, the latches for the driver’s and passenger door are different. The key-lock mechanism on the driver’s side is different than the passenger side. If the lock cylinder is on the same side as mine, which in your case would be the passenger side, then yes, it would work. But if the lock cylinder is on your driver’s side, the latch for the U.S. passenger is different and ordering one from U.S. wouldn’t work. You may try local junkyards though as these parts are used on Passats, Jettas, and Golfs. I also suggest heading over to VW parts (I’m nature they have a website for Australia) and getting the part number and looking for that one on the internet or anywhere where it’s right hand drive. I would guess UK ones would work as well. I hope this helps. Wishing the best on your repair!

thanks for the video, one question, is it necessary to remove something from the window lifter to be able to extract the lock?
@thebeetleman18 күн бұрын
Hello! Glad it was helpful! Not at all! I did not need to remove anything from the window assembly to replace the latch. It’s quite modular. Cables are the only thing that has to go around. It’s important to not take out any yellow cables like the pinned comment explained. But other than that, the door skin is the only thing that was nerve wracking to me.

Hey Bud, can the window controls come out without taking the door skin apart? One of the window switches doesn't work and I'd like to replace it.
@thebeetleman3 ай бұрын
Hi there! Yes! You can replace the window switch without taking the skin off. I didn’t do it because it might’ve been easier? In hindsight, it may have helped to take the skin off. However, I found this video that goes into detail on removing the switch itself. I hope it’s useful to you! kzbin.info/www/bejne/n5qXaI2eorelidU

can you show how to replace the gear shift knob on a manual A5?
@thebeetleman3 ай бұрын
Hi there! I can help indirectly. My Beetle is DSG, not manual. However, the Golf and Beetle share many parts! And I believe the Manual Gear Shift knob is no different. I found this video that replaces it on a Golf 6. I believe it should be the same process for a Beetle. I hope this helps! kzbin.info/www/bejne/ipTci4eBZdhreq8si=pJCfeQPR1s0D35Fn
