It's just been announced that the UK is to get the Dacia Spring early next year and prices expected to be a few quid under £20k. Now there making a right hand drive version, hopefully Ireland will get it aswell and with competitive pricing it really could change the EV market for both the UK and Ireland with more affordable EV city cars that have only been sold in mainland Europe.

Have it on lease for nearly 2 years now. Pros: size, manoeuvrability, fun to drive. Cons: Aircon will ALWAYS go back to 22ºc to boil you at summer, my iron board is comfier than the seats, and the most important thing: ALWAYS turn off the lane detector or you'll end up facing road signs, road cons or even a concrete bollard if you're extremely lucky.

Mark, great review on a 'proper' car! A small 'city'/urban' car. So well designed. As you may have gathered i am an VW UP! owner... a 75bhp High Up, 2016 model. Has covered over 96k miles..yes almost 100,000 miles without missing a 'beat'! Has all the toys i will ever use. And built to last! Had the 'misfortune' to have to have Citroen C1....what a pile of ****! As for capacity i can put two lawn mowers in the back! Mine is a 2 door. I could go on! Amazing car! Be it the R Line, GTi or E-Up...and yes being a Lancashire bloke i too have made the joke.

They should take the grant reduction and add it to small EVs under €35-40k to get more small cars on the roads rather than crossovers. Too many people driving SUVs/crossovers for their family of 1 child that would fit into a Kona/ID.3.

Nobby can I ask something know what you thought took a ferry from UK to Ireland and back last few weeks and the recent fires on board a couple of car transporters got me thinking about how bad these eVs are when they go wrong. Clarkson has wrote a good article of them today.
@Mancozeb100 Жыл бұрын
It seems that when they let go, they go big… however, petrol (and diesel cars have been going on fire for a long time - It’s not that long ago that a Vauxhall/Opel Zafira burned down a multi-storey car park at Douglas Shopping Center in Cork. I’d like to hear more about that ship up off Denmark with the 500 EVs - if they’re able to recover it and do forensics - it would not surprise me if a battery was damaged on the ship - those guys loading and unloading can be fairly rough on cars. It’s frequent enough for cars to need rework after shipping. Maybe you could ask your contacts Nobby - see how prevalent it is these days? So many EVs have been transported by now, it’s not like, every second EV is bursting into flames.

Also - won’t need to read Clarkson ! He was all against Diesel cars for a long time! Probably still is. Even though his Lamborghini tractor is most definitely a Diesel !!
