It's in the sweet price-performance spot compared to the more expensive German rivals as the A4, 320 and C class. Nice place to be in at around 211k RM almost a 100 grand cheaper.

Easily the best D segment. Very easy recommendation. I own the elegance and it’s a joy to drive. Be it comfort or spirited drive. I can imagine how the R line will be. No challenge.
@royalprince58782 жыл бұрын
It's fine. Yours is also good enough. What R Line has is outright response and performance but you get something R Line doesn't really master which is fuel efficiency. If R Line is very fuel efficient, then Elegance is crazy efficient based on hearsays I hear and also from your own WapCar review.

No I think they should further improve aftersales service and bring down the exorbitant maintenance cost. Because VW labour and parts costs are as expensive as Mercedes and BMW. But in overseas VW is people car like Toyota. The maintenance part scares the hell of the ppl from VW. Also revise the lopsided warranty policy (only few things are covered 5y, most 2-3y, else goodwill). And also what else??? VW need to learn marketing tactic of Mazda and BMW where they offer 5y free service. This will definitely be quite a strong selling point.
@royalprince58782 жыл бұрын
I would appreciate if VW retains the price but equip the cars with full ADAS, IQ Drive system. Yes I may not need ADAS but VW needs to look at the big picture. Worldwide many cars already have ADAS even M'sia demand very high for ADAS.

@@YSKhongDriving Most importantly it's comfortable (I'm judging based on my test drive experience with the 190Ps Passat R Line). Most sporty oriented cars tend to be jarring and unsuitable for family but this car is versatile.

@@YSKhongDriving so they decided to bring it in to M'sia. In the low MYR 200ks in price how do you think it stacks up to the A4 and 320?
@Rapture772 жыл бұрын
@fortheloveofthemachines it was available in Europe, Germany for sure, Oz and NZ Volkswagen. M'sia decided to bring in the downtuned Elegance at 190psi first. The same as its A4 sibling dubbed the Ultra. This 2 litre VAG block is ubiquitous across 3 brands VW, Audi and Porsche at various levels of tuning from 190 to to 300 psi. Any way I'm glad they bought it in for the M'sian market as its a nice more affordable alternative to the A4, C and 320.
@Rapture772 жыл бұрын
@fortheloveofthemachines that's rather strange as these models are used as fleet leases in the EU and UK as is with the A4 for sales managers. So they could do well in sales. I should think the Elegance at 190psi is the base model in Europe. They can certainly afford the 220 psi version which was branded as the Highline trim in earlier B8s. In M'sia the product planning is constrained by import duties which drive the price up so that VAG M'sia may have been inhibited to take that risk if they couldn't move inventory. Maybe the CKD versions may have mitigated the artificial price increase due to customs duties. I'm just guessing.
@Rapture772 жыл бұрын
@fortheloveofthemachines OK so they have changed their trim level labels. I live in the US and M'sia with VWs being very different from Europe. Dieselgate was tough with 13 billion USD fines and forced buy backs of VWs and Audis. However they have re-emerged well. In M'sia, Oz and China the brand was dented over the DSG issues. These are all in the past. VW is a resilient brand and they are showing genuine commitment to quality, reliability and customer service. Independently of JDPower and Consumer Reports data of course which like it it or not are still highly influential. Consumer Reports for example analyzes around 700,000 cars a year in the US and their components for reliability with average cost of repair. M'sia doesn't have this kind of data unless you talk to experienced and skilled mechanics here.
