Ahh yes. Nice teardown i have fond memories of my bus teardown and rebuild last winter. Lots of fun! Definitely put on the to do list. Clean the crap out of the heat riser on the intake manifold while you are at this point of the dissesembly. It's a must on the rebuild. God work bro! Right on

Thanks man! I'll b cleaning this thing for days! It's a mess! I really hope the case is good!

Just look at everything you work on as a puzzle and you have to take the puzzle apart and put it back together. That's how I approach things. You have the engine running already so I would assume the case is going to be fine. The case that I was working with was sitting on the ground for at least 25 years, it was a bit corroded in some areas on the exterior. Machine shop had to do a line bore and polish the crank
@CTmoog6 жыл бұрын
Yes, that's good advise. It can be a bit overwhelming with all the different parts. How much did the shop charge you for that? Hopefully thats all I need as well.
@EmanDeluxeVLOGS6 жыл бұрын
machine work was around $600, that included new bearings, I had Rimco in California do it, I remember you saying you are having it done locally. Text me at 860-227-9069 I want to send you a link to some really helpful videos that I used in conjunction with how to rebuild your Volkswagen engine book. I followed those like a Bible step by step the whole way through

Too late now, but next time when you have old bolts that have rusted, soak them for a couple of hours with WD 40. It may save you from breaking a stud and a lot of work. Work the bolts back and forth slowly to get them off. Spray WD40 a time or two as you do this.
