I'm a total VAG hater, but the end of the VR6 certainly is a big moment. It's been there my whole car enthusiast life. WV used to by up the magazine back cover space with for the Gold VR6 with the tag line "In a class of it's own" (or similar). Very cool. I would love to see what a Corrado VR6 is like.

Its a great engine. I would of loved a VR6 Corrado... I had a 16v Scirrocco which was a great car.

Corrado is nothing special. It's literally just the engine.

I'm sad, but for an regular manufacturer like VW, it doesn't make sense keeping the VR6 alive, so it's sad but needed.

The VR6 is short enough and V6 enough to fit transversely into compact cars. With the V-engine disadvantages reduced to an absolute minimum. It is a genius engine.

Hi Chris. You seem to find new ways to make interesting videos. Keep these coming. I drove my friends VR6 Golf, 4WD. What a joy! It ran like a bat out of Hell! And was areal joy for a rally driver, on gravel too. Though, I can*t understand those, at 2.06, who destroy cars, by doing that. Maybe it is to compensate for "something". like capability to drive. Yes, the laugh is from my side: 🤭..🤣! Sorry to see it go. from a Finn in Diaspora

This VR Engine has been around for over 130 years and in the spend of one CEO decision it’s gone 😣! The first VR Engine was called a V2 Engine in 1889 but the first VR Engine to be called that emerged in 1925, the VR4 Engine.

Did that V2 VR engine have 2 cylinders?
@MobyTheMerpup18524 күн бұрын
The first V2 engine had an angle of 20° and at the time the name of VR hadn’t been invented yet until the 1920s, when Lancia kind of invented it though it was a four-cylinder model but had the same angle between banks but technically the first VR was built earlier but it wasn’t called a VR engine even though it was technically one.

Lancia invented the VR6. But the later VR4 in the Fulvia, became more iconic.

In the world of downsizing, the VW VR6 could still be used for a bit longer, replacing V8's. They replaced V8's with V6's in many cars, so a VR6 in place would make more sense economically, since you'd have the same 6 cylinders, but with a lower production cost, lighter weight and reduced complexity. You're cutting down a cylinder head, set of camshafts, head gasket, etc. Sucks that they killed it.

V8s, just like the VR6, will be replaced by 4 and 3-cylinders and electrics. Boring times ahead.

@hkonhelgesen I know. In the end, they want to ban ICE's completely, but I am of the mindset that this won't work. Too many super expensive and exotic ICE vehicles nowadays. The same way horse riding didn't disappear completely, but became a riches' hobby.

Was a VR8 ever made?
@imnotusingmyrealname45664 күн бұрын
No but they made a W8, two VR4 blocks combined in a V.

VW planned a VR8 Golf. But the 2008 finance crisis and CO2 crisis killed it off.

@@imnotusingmyrealname4566 Passat W8 was such a lovely sleeper. Almost an Audi S4. Hidden by the looks of a 100 PS Passat.

A great engine. Last it made 300 PS and 500 Nm in a VW SUV in China.

VW has made some great engines, how will the go in the future, are they ready to ditch all this technology for the newest and finest around? Hmm...not sure of if they will or if this new tech is any good either... Cheers Chris! 👍💪✌
