I really like the Taigo. So much better than the T Cross and T Roc. Visual Green is a great colour choice too.

I like it too! The Taigo is certainly better than the T-Cross and I’d say on par with the T-Roc. I think the green is a marmite colour love or hate! Thanks for watching :)

Another great review Sam 👍🏻👍🏻 About the lack of engine breaking you mentioned, I wonder if the Tiago has the DSG coasting feature and if so maybe it was switched on? The next time you get a DSG have a look and see if that’s enabled, you might find it much better with it turned off. Years ago I had a Yeti 2.0tdi DSG with that feature and wasn’t a huge fan of it. My current car (Volvo S90) also has a coasting feature (it has an Asin transmission) but in the Volvo it’s only active when the eco mode, and then only when travelling at more than 40mph. When it kicks in at more than 40mph the S90 will coast below 40, but if you touch the brake it disengages and won’t coast again until you go back over 40mph - it seems to work a lot better on the Asin gearbox than the DSG. I agree too it’s a shame there’s no 1.5tsi Manual in a car like the Tiago. I can’t help but wonder if the well known issues with the 1.5tsi are why VW are offering it with the DSG only? A lot of the 1.5 owners who are reporting hesitation and stalling issues seem to have the manual transmission - complaints seem less common with the DSG. My parents were recently looking at a new 1.5 Kodiaq or Terraco but were put off by the issue as a lot of owners were reporting the fix by VW didn’t seem to fix the problem. It’s always great to see these reviews so do keep them coming 🙂

Thanks for watching Richard! You would assume that the lack of engine braking would be down to the Auto DSG gearbox but in the 5-speed manual life I also had this issue. In my 1.4 6-speed manual Golf engine braking works really well, the Taigo seems to just run away. I’d have to test out the 1.0 6-speed manual though as I should think it would be a better option, I think Volkswagen is limiting the 1.5 manuals to the T-roc so buyers move up to that car instead. I haven’t heard of any issues myself with the 1.5 engine but I do know they haven’t gone down as well as the 1.4. I love Volvo’s! Great cars, more videos coming soon. Thanks for your comment :)

Excellent Review Sam. I part exchanged my Arteon for one a few weeks ago as the residual value was good. There are a few things i would have preferred to have such as an automatic handbrake and push button engine start which is an option but i feel it should be standard on cars now and i agree about the arm rest also. I bought a show room model so didn't have a choice unfortunately. I would trade these for the paddle gear shifters which i never use. Overall i like the style of the car and lights are cool, mine has the light bar on the front also which gives it a very distinctive look at night. i do prefer an auto now and the DSG box is very smooth like you said in the review. Mine is in the white which looks good and a lot of people comment saying they like it too. On the whole a great car and i am very pleased with it.

I’m glad you love your new Taigo! I think white is one of the best colours for the Taigo and the IQ light is a really cool feature on the new VWs I agree with you about having an electronic handbrake, when I first got my Golf I didn’t like it but now I love it 😄 I prefer to have a classic key in ignition, I always forget to turn the start button off when I get out of the car and I never lose my keys in the car! I traded my 2008 1.4 tdi polo last year after 12 years and 100.3000 miles for a 2016 1.6 diesel Astra which I am finding a lot more comfortable to travel in and is doing the same mpg even though it has an extra cylinder but it is more modern engine I just hope it is has reliable has the polo was kept the the reviews coming
