Volkswagen Taigun Performance Test in Ladakh!

I have enjoyed driving my 1.5GT in the hills, and I have to say that it loves to eat mountain roads. Driving anywhere in this car is absolutely effortless.

How comfortable is : 1 2nd row seats- thigh support and can you be comfortable in it for 10-12 hours 2. Breakpads- replace every 5-7k or every 15k? 3. AC not cool enough? 4. After sales service- cost 40-50k 5. Top roof is Maruti strong!! ??? try an pencil through the cloth on top and it slip through.. if you don't take sunroof then it is soft top maruti strong. 6. Mileage in city- just 2kmpl. 7. Tyres are cheap won't last 20k.. so what do you do? 8. Breaking noise... !#!@!$%! 9 DCT is exposed at the bottom so it hits a stone / bumber - you are under 4/5 lacs.. how could you do off-roading in it?

1. Seat comfort in the 2nd row is good and most people (unless you are 6ft+) can sit easily for long drives. 2. Brake pads last the 15-20K easily 3. a/C is excellent - Ive used the Taigun in Rajasthan, Kerala, Chennai…no problem with cooling. 4. With VW Care the cost of ownership is extremely low for the Taigun (which is why so many people have gone in for it). 5. The roof is strong. Taigun has a 5 star safety rating! 6. Mileage - it gave me 10.4kmpl in Leh! In city you’ll easily get 11-12. Yes, on short runs it can drop to 7kmpl but you have to average out your use over a month to see what you actually get. It’s NOT 2 kmpl for sure! 7. Tyres last 20-25K easily..unless you get JK Tyres that really suck. Apollo, MRF, Yokohama..all last over 25K without an issue…maybe even 30-35K depending on how you drive. 8. Yes, the brakes get noisy from time to time and that is because of the brake dust wipe.Can get annoying at times, but isn’t doing your vehicle any harm. 9. DCT isn’t exposed as you say. I driven on all sorts of roads, gone on dirt trails and never once did it even bottom out. It will take a foolish driver to try something in a off-roader to damage the gearbox from underneath.

Not at all! 115PS is still better than a ton of other models out there!

The 1.0 TSI also performed very well…it was driven by a friend of mine from Autocar..he was quite impressed.
