A refreshing review, proper stuff Auto Trader. I love that this was product focused. With the Omoda, when you put the suspension on mid it hides the weight quite well. Ive found thats the best place to keep it, in no way have I felt that its heavy though. Especially after having extensively tested the cars in its class i.e X3, XC60, GLC before making a purchase decision. I also tested the Tiguan after getting my car because I saw alot of people comparing it to the C9 otherwise it wasn't even a consideration. I beg to differ on the Tiguan feeling premium. When I had the R-line on test for 4 days it didn't feel premium, if felt like it had alot of plastic with synthetic leather. However, I enjoyed the massage seats and the superior infotainment and driver display system. Besides feeling like a big Polo, its a good product in its class but not against the Omoda C9.

No bias here, simply inserting my opinion after driving both vehicles for an extended period. Had I not included an opinion I’d be labelled a spineless journalist. I’m aware that there’s no pleasing everyone online, but I can assure you I have and will never have a preconceived bias against a car in these reviews. The premise of the video was the compare a newcomer to a vehicle that has been established as one of the best in its segment. Thanks for watching, I appreciate the engagement.

This shows how your thoughts change based on the facts you're given. The Omoda is not much heavier yet feels more solid and sturdy. It is in fact only 200kgs heavier not 1000 as you said. You probably read the GVM weight of the Omoda and the tare weight of the Tiguan. That means it was really well engineered. It is a thing the Germans always did. Their cars are designed to have that solid feel. The Chinese cars are not coming in at ridiculously low prices as you say. They are coming in at normal prices! Everyone else has hiked prices to unaffordable and unreasonable levels and they made us believe that that was just how it is. But no it isn't. They are just greedy. Thank gosh for the Chinese carmakers. People can actually get to experience high end features at normal prices. The legacy carmakers act like the features are expensive to implement when they are not. The features are decades old. Radar cruise should not be costing R10k. A sunroof should not be costing R20k.

The new North American Tiguan was co-developed for the Chinese market. Anyway, a flat bottom steering when is not unusual. Also , point the camera down into the bins so we can see the bottom (ports, lights, etc.). Love the cover over the center console so that every looks nice and tidy when not in use. The C9 also has a power adjustable steering wheel. Something you can't get on the Tiguan (the last of the manual adjustment item that I wish they would offer even as an option). One button push and everything adjust to your personal setting. The VW seats won an award for their "ergo-active" seats in comfort and adjustability. Even if they're not as plush as those on the C9.

@erichweggelaar1320 a tiny engine in a big heavy SUV has to work harder to move the vehicle that's why I said high revving plus it has a turbo charger which is going to cause reliability issues. If you don't believe me simple Google what owners of this vehicle with that engine say about reliability
@erichweggelaar1320Күн бұрын
@mousepad9763 googling will of course produce exceptional cases. A family member works at a VW dealership and turbo or engine issues are very very rare. I must add that the car must be maintained. Any car with a partial service history will give issues. If that car has a turbo then it's not the turbo's fault. Total cost of ownership of VW is well worth it and it's excellent trade in enables one to upgrade instead of buying down which is the case with all Chinese and Indian cars. Toyota also share good cost of ownership but you have to spend money on them to get even a proper headlight. VW on the long run, when maintained is well well worth it.

Not to mention the DSG gearbox notorious for becoming problematic and VW's expensive service costs. Crazy how you have to compare it with a car from a higher segment from China. Just shows how overpriced the Tiguan really is. Also, the Omoda has adaptive dampers which gives it a far better ride than the harsh VW suspension and the Omoda has real nappa leather seats. Geely and SAIC are the largest shareholder in Daimler Benz and Geely has owned Volvo since 2010. About 1 in every 2 vehicles sold in China is an EV, so there is no financial gain to be had by throwing all your money at R&D for engines. From now, go and do research about the legacy companies and see how the Chinese improved their products - you will see they took the best human skills and resources from all parts of the globe, including from the Germans and the went a step further and bought controlling equity in the loved legacy brands.
