Another vehicle with rather basic equipment. And you won't see me complaining. While a fully equipped car shows you how good it can be if you buy it all, the base model shows you what the car is like in its most basic form. No makeup.
The base model with 8 seats starts at 28.000e. With lots of extras, this price can raise up to 80.000 and beyond. I do have to mention here the Transporter offers a lot of specific equipment that should not necessarily be mixed. Some of it is meant for camping, some of it for comfortable long-distance driving and so on.

great video, and very reasonable view of yours about what a (commercial) vehicle should be! I am very much on the same page, you can see some of it here kzbin.info/www/bejne/Y4bCk4iFqdSSsKMm48s. Steel wheels only, no flashy alloys either (what for, really...?) I am totally fine with -- or even PREFER -- that rather basic level of equipment! One major reason for me to buy a car like that in the first place! I "de-selected" most of the toys they offer and was able to even save a load of money because of that. It is great that VW offers de-selection options and overall a fairly basic, sturdy, and reliable working and touring car! The only "extra" I was willing to accept was cruise control. No other toys, no radio, no navi systems or similar stuff. I still can read a map and a car atlas (book), and I am building my own IT on-board system around a Raspberry Pi anyway, giving much better options and customisation! Note that we even had our T5 ordered to specification and built stripped of ESP, of keyless entry, and of power windows -- these are all potential weak-points or even death traps (plus they are prone to failure or wearing out over the longer term)! ASR can be turned off with a switch, and you might want to do just that when driving up-hill in snow (else you may end in the ditches)... Will not go too much into further detail, but will leave that for a separate review. On another note, you're totally right when it comes to the off-the-shelf or stock-(un)equipped car you receive from the factory. You rightly pointed out the bare-metal wheel case on the driver's side, and this is, indeed, ridiculous! On top, do note that grey, whole-punched cardboard mat or "wall cover" does not even really fit around the wheel in the lower corner :) Hilarious, but I didn't really care so much, as, on the other hand, building a touring van, we had to modify this anyway: easily adding insulation mats for sound-proofing and deafening (on both sides, actually, even the neat one with the plastic cover) and adding a sturdy shelf for camera equipment, camping gear, tools and other stuff. I have been a few times to the Black Sea (of course in a VW, back then I was a poor student and had a used T3 I bought from a farm), starting with a photo tour (unf, no videos) to Romania and Bulgaria in 1990 where we still drove through the gravel of the Bucarest riots... Our way of travelling (as well as video shot quality) has improved a bit now with the current equipment and recent T5 models we have, maybe our two channels could do a joint video about something like that, if an opportunity arises? Lots of good stories (and not so great ones, sometimes), indeed. Adding to the Yugo with the sandwich in it, I have a friend from Austria who found a factory-new Aro 4WD (1988) and found a few cherry cores glued into the inside floor paint. So the 'comrades' from Romania where actually not much different from what you seemed to have in Slovenia :)
