The good thing out of it is the fuel consumption- ~7.8 ltr per 100 km. Which is really good when traveling fully loaded (3.4 t) But I'm going to place TDI pump, acceleration will get better.

@@petrostoufexis7668 Thanks! No oil consumption, never needed to add oil. Fuel consumption is around 7-8 ltr/ 100 km. IT easily passes the MOT, cant tell you what emmsions are. Well, with ECU you can get a better economy, more power when you need it, and whats most important- cruise control for long distances. I owe a syncro 1.9 TDI and I would love to make this westy also TDI just because of the cruise control. Best of luck in buying!

Nice job. I want to convert my t3 syncro to a tdi. What is the best Afn donner? The golf 3 is too rare to find. I have a avk gearbox with 0.78 ratio in 4th gear.

Thanks. Best would probably be the Golf ( or any transvers mounted AFN) as you mentioned. I believe, that all of them fits, it's just requires more or less work, for example, inline requires remake passenger side engine mount, meanwhile transverse fits as is regarding same engine mount.

Probably it was too windy for my Westy. Even though it's not accelerating fast, it consumes barely 7.4 liters of diesel / 100 km. Which I believe is good.

Hi, it's 4D gearbox with 4.57 ratio final drive and 0.71 ratio of 4'th gear (custom made). Do it! Reliable and bulletproof engine.

@@EnsVibes sounds like an awesome trip!! It consumes around 7,5-8,5 ltr./ 100 km. , though not too much of a power. I prefer low fuel consumption rather than power.

Hi, nicely noticed, some of my T3 owner friends don't catch it. I prefer fully TDI converted T3, better fuel economy and power output, cruise control possibility and something else. Not much smoke. once I was making around with l pumps bolt dedicated for the fuel injection quantity and it did performed better on acceleration but also fuel consumption increased from ~7 to bludy ~10. @@Gadomaitis yeah i wouldn't mind if mine had that gearing :) My brother renovates gearboxes for the T3's and i am looking for parts gearboxes to make my 3H gearbox more of a cruiser than a screamer at 80 km/h. Where did you get the parts? or did you get them used?

I have maybe four of them and some used parts. This one is mostly from used parts, 4'th gear is custom made, but I'm not happy with the result. The manufacturer wasn't attend to the details, few measurements was off, later it turned out that I have measured distance between two shafts wrongly and smaller gear was too big, I couldn't place needle bearing. Maybe 4th attempt was ok and I got the pair working, but I'm still constantly looking for wear trough oil filling hole.

Hi! I thought it was unique, the difference between the 3rd and the 4th was remarkably large. how many horsepower is the engine?

@@davidzambo3372 maybe something like 51'nish kw, 1z 1.9 TDI with OEM 1.6 TD fuel pump, I believe it's not more than 51. Future plan is to swap pump with electric one

I've chosen my poison 😅 and decided to build an Mtdi with a 1z engine and land rover 300 pump. My t3 is syncro with a avk gearbox that I don't want to modify. My target is 100hp Can you tell what clutch and pressure plate should I use so the gearbox can handle the torque?

@@floringhetu4005 Hi, try using TDI dual mass fly wheel, its better for the gearbox rather than one mass flywheel. Try finding my video named VW T3 1.9 TDI installing dual mass fly wheel, the code of the clutch is over there and test drive with 81 kw chip tuned ECU
