When practice spiking, pay attention to how the ball spins after you make contact. The ball should have topspin. If there is sidespin then you missed the center. If you have a wall or partner to hit to, toss the ball to yourself and hit it to the wall or partner. Focus on wrapping your hand over the ball to create topspin.

You can also work on the volleyball approach without a ball. Right left right if you're left handed. Left right left if you right handed.

My daughter's spikes mostly tend to go slightly upwards instead of the sharp downward trajectory you can see with good and powerful hits. How does she correct it? She uses a 3-step approach.
@DennisJacksonvts
@DennisJacksonvts Жыл бұрын
If she jumps off the ground from behind the ball then she'll contact the ball more out in front. This will help her hit the ball downward. If she gets too far underneath the ball then it will be harder to hit downward. Also, make sure she is wrapping her hand over the top of the ball. This will help create topspin and make the ball drop downward into the court. Jumping higher and contacting the ball with a vertical arm is going to help.

Nikhil to jump higher you probably need to jump more. Many people increase their vertical just by playing more volleyball. If you already play a lot, then you likely will benefit from strength training. If you haven't done jump training before, you likely will benefit from that also. If you're fairly new to volleyball, then definitely practice your approach. Your body will start to figure out how to move more efficiently and that will help with jumping and also timing your hit. Something you can do to help time the jump is focus on the big step you take when you are about to plant to jump. If you are right handed, it's a big right step followed by the left foot to plant and jump. This big step is to the spot you need to jump. If you don't step to the correct spot, then your timing will be off. Something else that could help with timing, is you could focus on being on the left foot when the ball is leaving the setters hands. So, for a 4 step approach, the second step is the left foot. Be on this foot when the ball is leaving the setters hands. You may obviously need to adjust your timing depending on how quickly your setter tends to set to the ball. Also, experiment with hitting sets at different heights. This will help you practice judging when to start the approach. If it's a lower set, then you need to go faster. If it's a high set, you need to wait, then go fast. And that big step should always be a quick step. All the steps before the big step are usually slower. It's a quick big step that helps you get there at the right time.

what type of shoes will you recommend for outdore volleyball.
@DennisJacksonvts
@DennisJacksonvts 4 жыл бұрын
I like the Adidas trail running shoes. I also like the Brooks Cascadia. Also the Salomon is a good shoe but tends to be more expensive. I like to have two pairs in case of bad weather. Water tends to wear out most shoes quickly. So, if it's raining, I'll play in my older more worn shoes. I'll save my best pair for when the weather is nice so the shoes last much longer.

I have so many other quations but i will ask one by one. first one - Do you think playing on higher net is profitable.I play on 250+ hight.so u think we should play on the same hight or lower for the original hight???
@DennisJacksonvts
@DennisJacksonvts 4 жыл бұрын
@@zodiac4410 A higher net will make it easier to pass and dig. A lower net will help someone learn how to hit because it will be easier to hit the ball over. A lower net can be used to improve blocking also.

Pappu, it sounds like the arm is bent at contact. Ideally, you want to be reaching as high as you can as you make contact with the ball. It sounds like you aren't doing this. This can be a tough habit to break. A device like a spike trainer would fix this. The way it works is you place the ball to the height you need the ball to be so that you have a straight arm when contacting the ball. By doing this, you are being forced to reach high to contact. Right now, you are in the habit of not reaching. If you don't have a device like this available, you can do this by having someone hold the ball at the correct height. You then take an approach and hit the ball out of their hands. Have the person holding the ball raise the height periodically to challenge you to make sure you are reaching as high as you can at contact. After practicing this, you will get a sense of what it feels like to contact the ball this way. This is the key. You need to know what it feels like, then when you don't reach you will feel it and know you are doing it wrong. So, at first this new way of hitting will feel uncomfortable and wrong. But be patient and keep going at it. It will soon feel natural to hit this way. Soon you will be contacting the ball at a much higher point than you ever did before. Also, be sure to focus on wrapping your hand over the top of the ball. Always finish the hit with the fingers pointed downward. I like to think of it as "clawing" the ball.

If you jump well but don't hit very hard, then you probably need to work on getting more explosive. Especially if you are already strong, definitely do exercises such as weighted ball throws to help with power. A lot of times people that jump well but don't hit hard simply need more repetitions hitting.

@@Anandu-uu5gi I think throwing a weighted ball will help you. I also like push ups and overhead presses. Check out this page. www.strength-and-power-for-volleyball.com/medicine-ball-training.html Also, any weighted ball will help. It just needs to be heavier than a volleyball. For example, throwing a basketball or baseball will work. It's that explosive body rotation movement that you need.

Focus on the contact point and how you contact the ball. Contact with a vertical arm. Also, create topspin by wrapping your hand over the ball. Place a target on the court and aim for it. If you can hit it, then move the target closer to the net. Also, where is the ball crossing the net? If the ball crosses higher, then the ball won't be going at a downward trajectory.
