Volocopter and RTA Dubai cooperate on eVTOL Autonomous Air Taxi (AAT)

When a vision becomes reality. Dubai’s “Roads and Transportation Authority” (RTA) signed an agreement with Volocopter to regularly test autonomous air taxis. The test flights will start in the fourth quarter of 2017, with the project envisioned to run for for five years.

Can someone tell me what is the advantage of using the "drone" technology for a autonomous flying vehicle instead of classical helicopter technology? I remember that i read somewhere that helicopter technology is way more efficient and stable?

Surely conventional helicopters are intrinsically unstable? They need a tail rotor to counteract the spinning moment of the main rotor. If one or other fails you're in trouble. . . .
