do you know anything about r type channels? i am trying to find out more about it but dont seem to be finding any luck.

Does magnesium block these VGCC's? Which type does it work for?

Bay K 8644 is in fact a Calcium channel agonist, I think L-type selective. It also increases the tail current amplitude.

Okay did abit of digging and Bay K 8644 is both a DHP agonist and antagonist, but dependent on the isomer (S-) is the potent activator and (R+) the potent antagonist.

I don't understand, if there is always a battery restoring the electrical potential how can the voltage gated channels be activated??
@christinedonohue75556 жыл бұрын
There is a stimulus that temporarily depolarizes it, the battery then takes some time to restore the potential back to -65

If there is no net current, then the voltage must also be zero according to V = I*R

Bay K8644 is a calcium channel opener

Thankyou, clearly presented. btw are you from England?

Of course he is.

Wouldn't the electrons just "try" to restore the electrical potential to zero??
@a1sharp654 жыл бұрын
I think that the electrons will try to restore the equilibrium potential for the cell (found using Nernst/GHK equations, considering concentration gradients and electrical gradients together) - usually around 65mV
