I'm originally from Pittsburgh, and it's fun to see these synths getting so much attention. It's also fun that these synths do a good job of showing the character of the city. Pittsburgh is kind of quirky and weird, a lot of character, and often tends to punch above its weight. So a powerful and weird synth with a lot of character that has the word Pittsburgh on it is kind of perfect.

Thanks, Bo, for introducing us to an interesting new instrument. The possibilities seem so endless as to be overwhelming. How much time did you invest in learning about it before making this demo video? That little Korg oscilloscope kit is appealing too!

Hm, that second oscillator, at 5:31 is interesting; the waveforms obtained are very similar to those on the Roland D50, labeled saw and square there, when sampled from the analog outputs! But, i agree with you, in terms of the signal's frequency spectrum it is rather dull. i would expect a nice result when oscillator 1 is used as carrier and oscillator 2 as a modulator.

Nice! But I'm a little doubtful about the placement of the patch bay, we see in the video that access to the knobs will be complicated. Why not do like Moog and put the bay to the side?

So this........or spend 2k on a custom built modular system?
@klstay8 ай бұрын
If you are completely new to modular and are wanting to really learn and actually master the fundamentals of analog synthesis then a solid custom setup initially for learning then expand later can be had for half this cost. If you already TRULY understand the fundamentals (no small number of hours to get that place) then an intermediate system can be had for significantly less; either with spare HP as your knowledge/needs/wants grow.
@tiempoveganoprovida22478 ай бұрын

I didn’t mind it for the interludes but it does seem to over power the sections where you are demonstrating features of the synth itself.
@mf81458 ай бұрын
The part in the middle was great. where it was being played over the parts where you were breaking down the features just competed with the sounds of the synth. Just an opinion.

I like the design and features, but... If this is your modular gateway it is NOT a good learning system. (You will get some cool sounds; some by accident and some on purpose) A good first/learning system can be done for half this then expanded to and beyond these capabilities as mastery grows. For those with some analog synthesis/modular mastery your rig may already do all this OR if not at all you could easily replicate it from scratch (and quite a bit more) using all premium grade modules for $500 or so more.

BO! U REALLY want to like ur chan.. so. Please, when ur demoing a product, be a purist. Don't intermingle other reverbs, drum units..etc... I love ur style of presentation so I felt I had to give this constructive criticism. Not to mention I'm a Pittsburgh Modular fanboy..so. Peace brother!
@BoBeats8 ай бұрын
I think its pretty good to hear things in some sort of context. I don’t plan on keeping it pure. It bores me and makes no sense. Especially when I think the total demos are a small part of the entire video.

Seems perfectly reasonable to me when compared to other stuff that’s out there. A make noise o-coast, with an o-ctrl and a Strega sets you back $1500. And this has a lot more going on than that trio. And it’s cheaper than an Intellijel Cascadia which costs $2149 which it’s similar to but again that has less going on
