A friend of mine who used to cut my hair quit beauty school to join nursing school (which, of course---good for her!) but it left me without my go-to stylist. I put off getting a haircut for months because I have a lot of anxiety about haircuts due to bad experiences in the past (someone tried to brush my hair out from root to tip!). I finally decided to stop putting it off and find a new stylist...and then of course the pandemic happened. Your haircut tutorial was a nice self-care exercise. I had to do it a few times before I was happy with the length, but a good trim restored my curls, the volume, and made my hair look and feel so much healthier. It's also just really nice to see videos for curly hair that aren't strictly CGM. I've tried CGM and almost every part of it just weighs my hair down---so thank you for sharing your hair journey. I no longer feel guilty about my love of mousse!

i feel like my hair weighs down my curls a LAT. ive noticed that when my hair was short, my curls were more type 3/more ringlet-y and now that my hair has grown longer, most of my locks are type 2. Idm either way but when i get layers, my head just become a hodge podge of different typed curls lol

My hair is also very very heavy and wavy so when I dk get out of the shower and let it airdry, it looks fine until i brush it out

Yes! I finally resolved myself to short hair like a chin length bob. My hair is so much more bouncy looks way thicker has more movement and is tons easier to style. I’m a convert!

i keep seeing videos on diffusing with root clips. I don't understand why they don't diffuse upside down. Even air drying I just do no part and reposition every 5 minutes. I hate clipping lol.

How do I know if my hair is low density or high density?

Density is how much hair you physically have on your head, if you grab a section of your hair at the front of you head and you can see your scalp easily, your hair is low density. If you grab a section and don’t see your scalp, it’s high density and if it’s somewhere in between then it’s medium density.

I have like a really big forehead and side parting my hair makes me look almost bald on one of my sides. Secondly my scalp is really greasy and it sweats a lot during summers as the place i live in is super humid. If you could share any tips on how i could get rid of it??

I know dry shampoo isn’t “curly girl” if you’re choosing to follow the cgm but it does help absorb excess oil between washes, I usually just spray my roots and then rub it in with my finger tips

Get a eyeshadow that's close to your root color with a fluffy blender brush and shade in where hair is sparse

How do you make it not dry weird with clips?

I only leave the clips in for 10 - 15 minutes and then take them out before diffusing so my hair falls into place
