Being able to install the bellhousing without the X-mission attached, in and of itself makes this modification worth it.

Elring rear main seal. Notice it's leaking like they all do.
@new_spin5 жыл бұрын
Yeah I replaced it haha
@Ricopolico5 жыл бұрын
Used to use Elring rear main seals. They were made in Germany, were a lot cheaper than OE Volvo and they worked. Then, FCP sent me one made in PRC. Dumbass that I am, I had to call to find out where PRC (Peoples Republic of China) is. I saw where this was headed so I bought a bunch of Blue Box seals from TASCA.

How much did this all cost ya? Lookin to do a build like this and I’m so wondering how much it’s gonna be.
@new_spin3 жыл бұрын
Honestly it's been a few years and I kinda forgot haha I wanna say like ~$3000? That's turn-key, and I opted for midrange clutch setup vs the base option one. I also did all the work myself of course I got the trans and driveshaft from a guy locally at a good price too

@hezekiah55373 жыл бұрын
can this be done any cheaper. im sure it can but i need help.
@new_spin3 жыл бұрын
Kinda depends, I got my trans and driveshaft for a pretty good deal already. But some of the other parts like the actual adapter are harder to get any cheaper. I'm sure you can spec a more basic clutch though for sure, I went for the sportier option.
@hezekiah55373 жыл бұрын

@new_spin2 жыл бұрын
I don't recall all the parts, but if you hit up Yoshifab Josh should be able to get you all the info you need Off the top of my head it was his crossmember and driveshaft adapter, trans adapter plate, and clutch kit With an STS Machining flywheel because my car had an OBD1 engine swap and needed the crank signal reluctor cuts on the flywheel. Like I said let Josh know what you have engine/trans wise and he'll get you set up
@tobiasseargeant23905 жыл бұрын
Anyone else notice that he forgot the seal on the input shaft retainer???
@new_spin5 жыл бұрын
I didn't, just didn't show that bit haha. Also didn't show putting silicone on the adapter itself
@mattwilliams99495 жыл бұрын
why wouldn't you change the rear main oil seal and clean the reused parts before putting it all back together. all that work and I still looks like a 30 year old volvo.
@new_spin5 жыл бұрын
I did change the rear main seal haha There was a leak from the FRONT main seal though causing quite a lot of sludge under the engine yhat traveled backwards so there was only so much I could do
@venostryke52207 жыл бұрын
How much did the entire swap cost you?
@new_spin7 жыл бұрын
VENOSTRYKE all the parts were around $2,000 (USD) That was what I went with though as far as options on the clutch, the flywheel setup, and me getting a good deal on the trans/driveshaft. Your mileage may vary haha
@ryanrussell98826 жыл бұрын

Nice video! So I noticed you had an M47 transmission originally. But you swapped from a dog dish flywheel to a flat flywheel. With this swap, did you use an M47 throwout bearing?
@new_spin6 жыл бұрын
Yes it was an OEM Sachs throwout. Not sure if it was for an M47 but it was a Volvo part

I've got everything for my 740 except the flywheel and clutch kit. do you know which pressure plate is used? and which size clutch works with that flywheel?

I ordered my whole clutch kit from Yoshifab. Josh secs some pretty good stuff. The flywheel I got from STS Machining
@new_spin4 жыл бұрын
I'm sorry to say I don't know the exact specs, just that it was a Clutchmasters FX400
@Elswalbe4 жыл бұрын
@@new_spin I see I can just use a 8.5" ford 10 spline disc, so that's easy, or the clutch you used. maybe I can contact STS machining to see which pressure plate style they recommend.
@Elswalbe4 жыл бұрын
@@new_spin I ended up picking up the flywheel from STS Machining like I planned, I found a t5-spline clutch kit on their site and the same kit on Summit Racing. I should be nipping my t5 box up into the car soon!!!
