also if you still have that trans I think its a m66 6speed I will snatch that differential up in a heartbeat and pay for shipping. I live in the U.S. and its super hard to get manual volvo parts of any sorts.

It was an M56 5speed. I had it out for sale for free, went in the dumpster after a week unfortunately since no one wanted it :/

I like that this "Guide" is more amateur-like, all experts tell you to use super specific tools and makes it look like the engine is super fragile, but this shows that you can do it with pretty simple tools and some creativity (so far), even if you forget to take of the driveshaft first lol! Keep the series going, I will definitely follow it :) (but maybe if I do this I will be slightly more careful haha)

this is great, thanks for producing this series! what transmission are you going to be using? The M90 for whiteblocks seems to be difficult to find (in the UK at least) so it would be cool to see an alternative, and what extra work would be required to make a non-Volvo trans work.

Thanks for the comment! 👍 The plan is to use the M90 from the volvo s90/960 that i have. At least for now. But when i pull the t5 out and build a more powerful engine we are going with a getrag gearbox from a Bmw since the M90 doesent last long under pressure.

You mentioned that is not a very good t5 engine. What Volvo t5 engine would you suggest, or prefer to use? Also, your english is great! Tack!

Thanks! 👍The biggest problem is the bore size, on this engine i have 83mm and that leaves the cylinder walls thin and prone to cracking. I would suggest a B5244T5 2005-> 81mm bore, you can run 400hp+ on stock bottom end no problem. //Backman

It's from a -99 V70 so the first gen. Don't know the chassie code for those years. //Backman

hello people, PIEASE someone tell me about instaling m90 gearbox to this t5 engine, how? just install to stock hols? without modifications?

No modifications to the bell housing. But you will need a M90 gearbox from a whiteblock engine, the M90 from a redblock (A Volvo 940 with a b230 engine for example) will NOT work. The gearbox can be found on any manual inline six cylinder Volvo 960 or V/S90
