I think its so awesome that you young guys are totally playing and have “discovered “ these old cars ! I’m 55 years old and i remember this era very well my father loved the older Volvos and we had quite a few of the older 70s and 80s wagons some of which we totally dismantled for parts I was into the 1st generation Volkswagen water cooled cars that also used many of the same Bosch fuel injection system that Volvo used i actually bought a old Rabbit that wound up having a non operating fuel injector pump and i knew where to go for a replacement the old mans attic and garage and i was back in business i beleive Jaguar and Audi. Used the same systems as well i do know that the Volvo “brain” As they called them. Back then or computer under the passenger seats worked in those previously mentioned cars those were one of the more expensive parts we saved. Along with a lot of hotrodders back then loved the Volvo all wheel disc brakes to install on any fast car they built keep in ind most American cars from the 70s and late 60s had drum rear/disc front (sometimes ) so 4 wheel discs was a big deal plus Volvo always had a good system

I applied "boost plus" to many cars during this era (I'm 59). Did or does anyone make a "chip" for the 700-turbo cars? That was usually the best option as the *performance chips increased fueling to a higher boost level,* beyond what factory chips were programmed for. I realize though, that many or most performance chips for cars this old may no longer be available.

Are you running with the stock Garrett Turbocharger? I have a 89' also and just doesn't have any turbo urgency to it and they say it's because of the Garrett, well my turbo was rebuilt with a bigger wheel and it still accelerates the same, so I was wondering if I need a Turbo Controller to make a difference..... what do you think???
