If you cap the ends of the pump before you remove it you can let it tip back easier to get the float arm out without spilling so much gasoline inside the vehicle.

Thank you very much for this video. Unfortunately I didn't pay complete attention to this video so my fuel gauge is no showing 75% fuel when I am at 100%. Thankfully, I have now learned at (2:38) that the pump should be aligned in a certain way and will now pick apart my Volvo again. Keep up the good work buddy!

Dear pistonshack. I have a 2004 Volvo S80 2.5 turbo all-wheel drive. I'm having two fueling issues. First one is I will fill my tank up in the needle reads full but once it gets past halfway it sticks and it doesn't move until the car runs completely out of gas this has happened to me twice while driving down the road. Second issue is that while feeling the fuel spews back at me unless I pump the fuel extremely slowly. Where it should take me just a 5 minutes or less to fill my tank it takes me almost 20 to 30 minutes to fill. What are your suggestions on fixing these issues. Thank you for your video and I hope to hear from you soon have a blessed day evening afternoon whatever time it is in your area.

Great video! Mechanics replaced my pump dash showed 50% when it was full. They tried to fix it but still same. Then they put old and new pump together. It's kind of ok but doesnt show it correctly when tank is getting empty. It shows like 10% full, 250km to go but then you are on the road..

Hi Hannes. Most likely fuel sender unit inside the tank got bent or damaged during the installation process, especially when you pull out extension fuel line inside the tank. It's so easy to messed up the float and potensiometer. Let me know if you have any questions.

I have no clue about cars really. I watched this as I thought my fuel pump had gone. I also checked the fuse for the fuel pump which was ok. But thanks to this video which showed how to test the fuel pump from the battery I done this and pump was ok. I then realised the connector had no power. I eventually found out that the fuel pump relay was located above the drivers footwell behind the steering wheel. So hard to find. So changed relay and all was fine. But glad I seen this video about testing the pump otherwise I would have thrown it away and bought a new one. Thank you for a great video.

Hey Shanelle! Sounds like you have crank no start issue. 1. Unplug MAF sensor, engine should start & run in default mode. 2. Check fuel pressure @ the fuel rail. 3. Check injector pulse, so easy to do (check KZbin); 4. Do you have engine light On and tachometer signal while cranking. 5. Do you have any other codes present? 6. How did this issue started? 7. Make sure your battery is fully charged. 8. Do you have any security / immobilizer problems related? Try different key. Let me know how is your Volvo. Cheers!

Fed the wire hanger through till it came up then the other end of the hanger I attached to the cabling and just dragged it through. I assume it doesn't matter if I done this or not. The car is running but does it matter if the cable has been just dragged across the middle of the fuel tank as I have done??? Advice appreciated

Well, it's hard to tell based on information you provided. It shouldn't be gauze sump issue. Depends from the fuel quality. I never had problem with gauze filter itself. Pull it out and check it out. Lack of power could be a vacuum leak, low fuel pressure, ect.

i did replace the fuel pump same as decripted here but there is not coming fuel in the front of the car its a v70 2.4 diesel the pressside of the pump only delivers a very small amount of fuel (sorry for my bad english ) that hose goes to the fuel filter no ? Sometimes ( at mornings after the car stayed all night and cold engine) it doesnt start for the first and second time. @@PistonShack I made an OBD2 scan since vida vice is on the way...it shows misfire for 4 and 5. I changed sparks, coils (all of 5 both) and still that misfire. Anyway ill wait for vida to see if it catches more info. Checked battery, alternator, all electrical i ok. No vacuum leaks, fuel pump presion not checked ( this week will) and the injector, maybe number 4 and 5 are letting down. Many thanks for the feed back. I’ll write if it is something new.
@PistonShack
@PistonShack 3 жыл бұрын
Oh, okay. I will start with basics: Check wiring down to spark plug coils, very often it could get jammed or damaged while screwing down plastic cover. Check injectors pulse and resistance and compare 3 and 5 with 1-2-and 3. Take spark plug out check for any oil leaks inside plug well. Check spark plug for gap, deposits and wear. Check spark jump with test light - should be min 1'' spark jump from coil to the ground. Check wet and dry engine compression on 4-5 and 1-2-3. I have a video when I did compression test on VW Golf MK4 (check red Golf MK4 playlist) I don't want blame ECU right now but it could be one of the driver failure but it's too early to say. Let me know how everything is going. Cheers Brotha.

I hate the P2 fuel pump design just because you gotta remove both units😞. On my old 850 it was a quick 15-20 minute job

Where can I find the emotions code to match right fuel pump
@PistonShack
@PistonShack 5 жыл бұрын
Hi, Trone. What you mean by "emotion code"? The easiest way to find a right fuel pump is to compare visually electrical connectors and fuel lines location and shapes on pumps. Also you can pull Volvo part number form VIDA or ask your local Volvo dealer . Cheers!

Ah I see you never videoed dealing with the fuel line routing and attaching the left side sender to the fuel pick up line. .just have kicked your butt real good. If it's not properly installed car will only pull fuel from right side of tank.

How is your repair?
@avenqer

Before you make your car smell like a gas tank, if you have a fuel pump control module located underneath the car attached on the side of the car or on top of the gas tank. disconnect and bypass to see if you can start the car before even thinking of replacing the fuel pump. If it fires up when you bypass, its the unit. Why am I saying this? Because $400 for a fuel pump and then $400 for the fuel pump control module adds up quickly. I recommend watching this video as well... kzbin.info/www/bejne/eqmZp3-Id914qNk
