@@HullioGQno, the headquarters is still in Gothenburg, and major employers are still Swedish, so most the the cost and earning stays in Sweden. On the other hand, Volvo can enjoy the endless money pour in and EV technology share from Geely which in turn save a lot of R&D cost.

I am driving EX30 core single motor extended range, and I really like the power. The only downsides are rear and boot space. But I wish it had a real range of 600KM.

@dpfrmhell You could trade it in for a Zeekr X. Built at the same Geely factory in China on the same SEA2 platform but with 10cm extra wheelbase and 20cm extra length. Fixing the 2 issues you have with your EX30. Additionally it is way better equiped than the spartan EX30 and cheaper..at least in Australia. Of course it doesn't have a Volvo badge which is important in some circles.

Unbelievable that the EX30 is so successful with its hi power consumption and very minimalistic interior. And as i see in various test the software isn't very reliable either. Made with us in Belgium as of spring this year to avoid EU taxes on Chinese cars.

Status is important to some. Geely who make the EX30 also make the Zeeker X on the same platform at the same factory. It has 10cm extra rear leg room and 14% more boot volume than the cramped spartan EX30 and is cheaper and way better equiped. But it is the EX30 that sold out while Zeekr is yet to make a dent.

In 2024 Volvo sold 5k BEV in US. Polestar sold 13k BEV. Tesla sold 633k.

For Volvo the US market has always been important. If the US will forbid software connected to China in the cars, this can be a big problem for Volvo. The leading financial magazin in Sweden "Dagens Industri" now urges Li Shufu to sell off more shares to make Volvo less "chinese". Right now Geely owns 80% of Volvo cars (not Volvo trucks). The rest is owned by swedish pension fonds and individuals.

Not sure where this will go. The whole point of the ban on electronics from China was to keep the US ahead but DeepSeek AI has proven the Chinese are doing just fine with home grown chips. In fact the US ban on high end chips has just encouraged them to innovate instead of relying on US suppliers. DJT one week in has already gutted the gov of competent people and he is just starting. Come 2027 US may start to look like the old USSR.

I see you're sneakily banding plug-in hybrids with fully electric vehicles to get to you 25% figure at the start of the video, funny how you switch between the two to support your narrative. Also worth noting that by far the biggest increases were in China, take them out and the numbers are far less impressive. In countries where incentives have been dropped the numbers are bad. Regarding Volvo, the large majority of their sales are ICE and plug in hybrids. Let's not let facts get in the way of your narrative though.

Just to give some context on the numbers, the VW group (that Sam hates) sold over 9 million vehicles in 2024, down a little, mostly due to a reduction in China. Volvo's 175 000 BEV's is a small ripple on the pond, an even smaller ripple than the 177 000 plug-in hybrids they sold.
