Great video! Simple directions. No extra BS. Just what you need to know. I was given a Volvo with the engine broken down and a box of bolts. This helped me locate many of the bolts I had. That further reduced the ones I had to guess by trial and error. Many thanks.

Very informative and helpful video. Without annoying stories ...

Thanks for the vid! Really helped! I also removed the manifold (and EGR for cleaning), which made some things easier. I was working on an AWD, so reaching those two T30 bolts was a real PITA!

Did you removed them from bottom? I recently changed turbo on xc90 awd. Didn't even bothered going under the car due to transfer case, so I removed turbo from above

Yes, from bottom. No chance from top. And even then there was hardly a line of sight. Was working on a LHD XC90 car.

It´s funny that lenght of the video is 12:55 for remove and instal. Only removing old one took me 5 hours :) (135kW version with water cooled turbo but it definitely wasn´t easy job)

Do you know if the turbo from a '04' S60 2.5 T will fit a 2003 S60 2.4T? Thank you excellent video!

Do you have to drain the oil before hand
@gtb2056 Жыл бұрын
Not necessary, but it won't hurt to replace oil for new turbo. Also make sure you don't drop anything into the oil drain hole in engine block, otherwise you'll need to drain for obvious reasons

Has anyone done this on an Auto D5 Euro 3 XC90? I'm just looking at mine and it appears that the transmission is blocking access to the lower oil fitting @SiRobb shows a video for testing the actuator that also has much better access than mine has - very weird, I must be being stupid! lol

My V70 makes a whooshing sound when I accelerate and has smoke coming out when the car has warmed at at about 30mph. Been told it could be the turbo. Anything you recommend to try to find out? Thanks
@gtb20562 жыл бұрын
It might be blown intercooler, common issue on D5's. Take a look at your radiators and if you see oil around them, consider replacing your intercooler
@BLOCKsignallingUK2 жыл бұрын
Could be the large air hose at the front of the engine. I had a split in it and the whoosing noise came from there, also lots of white smoke. If you drive carefully all is normal, as soon as the turbo comes in you hear the woosh and see the smoke. Could also be any other intake hose or the intercooler. Engine management thinks lots of air is entering the engine and injects diesel to match, but the air is not reaching the engine (leaving the hose at the split) and the remaining unburnt fuel gives the smoke.

@@gtb2056 I had to change my intercooler 5 years ago, it was bulging and split at the bottom. Volvo part was £700 + VAT!

does this have the same motor as the 2004 volvo xc70

If your xc70 has 2.4 diesel, that should be the same engine

I was about to dive in, then realised your car is left hand drive. The brake servo and master cylinder are exactly where they shouldn’t be…..
