In 2001, the engines of the huge D5244T family made their debut at Volvo. These are 5-cylinder diesel engines, with an aluminum cylinder block, with one and then with two turbochargers. The very first base 136-horsepower engine is known as 2.4D, and more powerful 163-horsepower is known as D5. Although in fact, these motors are practically similar. The production of D5244T engines has ended recently. We can say that the Swedes created about 23 modifications of their 5-cylinder diesel engine. The most powerful version produces 230 hp.
We disassembled just the very first version of the D5 motor (D5244T), shot with the 2004 Volvo XC70.
