I totally agree on purchasing OE parts for the items you listed. I am anxiously awaiting your cabin filter replacement, I had a really hard time installing the retaining cover, just no room to work.

My experience is that when a car gets older the price of parts, especially from Volvo, go up. They want you out of that old car and into something new so bumping the cost of maintaining is one way to do that.

would greatly appreciate it if you could tell me the location of the fuel filter in the 2012 Volvo S60 T5. Thanks.
@A_Renaissance_Man7 ай бұрын
Under the car on the driver's side. From under the car, remove the black plastic panel located in the area under the driver's seat and the fuel filter should be there. As I recall that panel is not easy to remove. I cannot remember when they stopped putting in an external filter so do not be surprised if all you see are fuel lines and a place for a filter. Look first before ordering a filter on line because some parts stores databases are incorrect and they will sell you one whether you have one or not.

I cannot locate the fuel filter on my 2017 VOLVO XC60 T6 R design Platinum with the dual motor 2.0. Any suggestions
@A_Renaissance_Man2 жыл бұрын
The external fuel filter on the new 2017+ model years has been eliminated. When the P3 design first came out in 2016 they had one under the car where the front left seat is and the access panel is still there but the filter is not. By the way the filter is now a part of the fuel pump located in the fuel tank.

Before disconnecting the fuel lines, did you take any steps to depressurize the system? I’m curious how much gas I can expect to flow out
@A_Renaissance_Man Жыл бұрын
The only fuel that came out was from the fuel filter. Literally no fuel came out of the lines.

Thanks for the video, very well done! Have you had the timing belt serviced? I bought my 2010 used in 2019 w/ 98756 mi., has 105623 mi., mostly highway miles. What about the haladex? Any more great videos or general advice would be appreciated! I’m subscribing 👍
@A_Renaissance_Man2 жыл бұрын
I hope your XC90 gives you many miles of dependable service. The V8 has a timing chain and the I have had no issues with the straight 6 in our S80 at 150,000 miles. As for the haladex, no service, no fluid changes, and no issues. I also live a few miles from L&B Auto, the largest Volvo salvage yard in the U.S. and Justin, the service manager, states that they rebuild, sell, and service them if I have any issues. I have had no issues and like the transmission, they recommend no fluid changes unless services is required. I hope this helps and you are free to give them a call and get Justin's input.

Did you remove anything before getting to the fuel filter itself for a 04 v70 wagon
@A_Renaissance_Man3 ай бұрын
The quick answer is no but, the ones I worked on had a paper cartridge so the outside housing was removed to access the paper filter similar to an oil filter.

@@A_Renaissance_Man ok so then on my model it must be inside the tank bc I’m not seeing anything that says it’s where it’s located

Interesting, I do not remember ever changing one on our 6cyl S80. Maybe the V8 just has an internal filter in the fuel tank. You can always call the Volvo dealer's parts department and ask.
