I spent a year in that plant as Mack production from Winnsboro moved there. Engines are same for both models and all come out of the Hagerstown, MD (Mack Powertrain) via a Roanoke prep plant to connect transmissions and options. I retired from them at 30 and out.

Judging by the fact that some people are wearing shorts this footage was probably taken during the summer time. I’m not sure exactly where this “New River” plant is located, but if it’s located here in the South I can definitely understand why they’re not wearing long sleeves. Despite having air conditioned buildings, one would still get uncomfortably hot when going outside to one’s car, and especially while IN a hot car, which has been roasting in a hot parking lot all day. I’m not sure how hot it gets in most European factories during the summer, but I’m pretty sure most of them don’t typically get as hot as it does here in the southeastern U.S. Some professional businesses in Florida allow their male employees to wear shorts to work instead of dress slacks because it gets so hot there, especially in the summer.

To the creator of this video, I personally work at this facility and was present when the actual film crew came in to do an almost hour long documentary on Volvo Trucks of North America. Pretty crappy to take someone else’s work and try to pass it off as your own and take credit for it. If you’re going to create something for others to see the least you can do is be original.
