From an American with a golf sportwagen, I agree. Simply said SUV’s suck to drive and wagons have plenty of cargo room. We have a stigma against wagons due to the American made ones from the 80’s and before:( if only we were only offered Volvo, BMW, and MB, and Audi wagons.

The speed limit doesn’t matter really in my opinion because Volvos compared to the german competitors are not very stable at speeds above 180 km/h. However in Sweden the asphalt is rougher and made of larger gravel to let out rain and meltwater more efficiently. The Volvos are in my opinion the best adapted vehicles for long bumpy noisy swedish roads. The sportier german competitors can easily become tiresome on longer journey to for example the ”sommarstuga” (cabin) which a lot of swedes go to on fridays through sundays and on holidays. Love the content, this is best car channel, in the world. Thank you.

Just got mine 1 week ago and I am not desapointed... I already was a fan of the Cross Country line up for almost 20 years but this is the first I can get. I like the "All road" line up too but to me this one looks a little more discreet. I knew that Volvo generate cleaving opinions and around me some people love and some people hate, for the exterior and for the interior all well (especially with this 70's looking brown wood combine with the brown leather seats that I have on mine). All in all I'm very happy and coming from a Honda CRV, the confort driving experience suits me very well. Thank U for all your german's quality reviews

A step forward in comparison to animal leather indeed. However if you take the sheep wool like you would get a personal haircut or like you would go with your dog to the dog parlor, sure, no problem. Regarding the 180 km/h soft limiter decision I find it completely ridiculous that people get angry about that. Germany is the only country in the world as far as I know where you're allowed to drive that fast, and even then, it's a pretty damn stupid thing to do (for obvious reasons I hope). In literally every other country there is zero reason to drive faster, or even at 180 km/h, and on top of that it's illegal. Please argue with me on this, or comment if you agree. I'd more than like your side and views. But for a safety-first company it makes total sense and hats off to Volvo for taking such a bold step. Also, Volvo doesn't technically own Polestar anymore so that's probably why PS hasn't made that decision yet.

But irony - while Volvo and observers go on about Volvo safety all the time - BLIS always seems to be a £1.6K extra on even their highest spec versions! Agree about Volvo max speed limit even in Germany really, and the Polestar 'bollocks'. But by 2022 in Europe, ISA (Intelligent Speed Adaptation) may be introduced, so even a new Ferrari or Porsche may be limited in speed in certain areas! Thanks for your professional work. Best wishes.

New Diesels are so clean and truly moved on from Diesel gate. I have a Euro6 AG meaning tested to real world conditions and I don’t smell anything from the exhaust when it’s running. Feel new Diesels being unfairly dismissed when compared to electric cars which have to have the metals for the battery mined. Not against electric car just feel government s to quick to turn there back on new the new Diesel engine especially now that twin dosing technology is in use from 2020. Nice car but it feels a bit IKEA for me. It’s beautiful interior but I personally would want something a little more sporty and more ambient lighting VW group have caught my eye with the lights. But moving away from physical button I hope manufacturers keep volume and temperature control knobs. Those are the the most adjusted controls I don’t want talk to the car to ask and I don’t want to be distracted trying slide screens up and down I just want to turn a knob and it’s done. Thxs for the great reviews Thomas keep them coming!!!

I think it is a good idea that they limited the cars up to 180 km/h. Volvo will always be known for its safety features, and I believe this is one of them. One of their objectives was that they wanted to reduce to 0 the number of heavily injured drivers in their cars... Nice review as always. I actually really like this new style with wool fabrics that some manufacturers are going for. I know Autogefühl strive for complete animal free products but I think wool has alot of pros as long as it is from sustainable farms with good animal welfare. As for the speed limit discussion I think it is more of a political one than a practical one. Like Thomas said there are not alot of times even in Germany where you will drive over 180km/h. As for why they did not do it with Polestar it is the reason Thomas mentioned with the BMW. Polestar is a "racing" brand, it used to be Volvos racing department before becomming it's own company, and so they believe perhaps you will take your Polestar 1 or 2 to trackday and so it can not be limited to 180km/h. Perhaps they could make a special software unlock like in Tesla but maybe they did not see the point.

Overall, the review is good but it is so strange that even nowadays you can see someone holding a microphone in his hand. Soooo old school LOL, reminds me of those old TV shows.

Thanks for a great review and short comparison vs German cars. Would you suggest any Japanese or Korean models in the same category and value for money, especially for internal comforts and quality? Merry Xmas!

Beautiful car, not liking this new trend of acute angle seating where the horizontal seat is a bit ramped up. Recently I had the opportunity to drive a WV Multivan and found the high, 90 ° seating is very comfortable. Asking autogefühl viewers, do you know of any SUV with similar position?

the most beautiful vehicle ever designed, dont give a shit in the real ” luxery ” brands, they can keep them each and every one of them, this one is my dream, such a masterpiece…… volvo for life just look at the steering wheel for design…. the germans is just left in the ditch here got an 2007 XC70 its clearly that this one is its grandchild no doupts just more electronics and improved design, volvo you are on the right track… as usual

How sad that anything with "diesel" in the title will ever see the light of day in our US market and we have VW to thank for that. Perhaps if I move to Canada they will sell and offer this brilliant piece of engineering which deserves a wider audience!

Too late mate! Diesel powered vehicles are doomed all over the (first) world. I’m in Europe and the political storytelling is the same. Diesel is a dead technology. Period. From the technical, environmental and “common sense” point of view diesel is still the best, most efficient, clean and sustainable; but when politicians decide to ride the “Thunberg Wave”, then anything sensible is dead, and we’re diving into the “green at any cost” white rabbit hole nonsense.

@@Lasergun74 According to Diesel Technology Forum: “Today, diesel remains the dominant technology in long-haul trucking, powering 97 percent of Class 8 big-rig trucks in the United States. A growing percentage of diesel-powered commercial trucks rely on the newest-generation diesel technologies, which deliver near-zero emissions performance" clearly diesel power is not even close to being dead!

The Polestar 2 is also limited. To 210 kph. With 440 bhp it could go faster, Tesla style
