Could you just do a balance shaft delete so that you don’t have to worry about this problem again?

I've really wanted to do this to mine

Very good engine. Porsche kinda made a similar mistake using sealed bearings in transmissions. Could have been prevented by not neglecting what bearings need? Like lack of oil or to much water where bearings live?

In a cruel world one would think that they do it on purpose, the important thing is that the car is okay during the guarantee time… Or it might be incompetence…

Hi. A bearing equivalent please? I realized that there are at least 2 types

Hello! What happen if you only replace the bad bearings but not the balance shaft?
@Stafilafi9 ай бұрын
Depends if the shaft has been damaged, mine was, otherwise you would probably not have to replace it.

The balance shaft is merely a counterweight to the imbalance inherent in a 60 degree V8. My thoughts are the minor scrapes on this balance shaft are not a big deal and probably would be ok to reuse. That said, at the dealers when I would do this repair, I was always given a new balance shaft and if I were to do this repair on my own V8, I would probably prefer a new one just because I’m a little OCD like that.

@@ghostwrench2292 I don’t remember if it was this shaft that had been riding around in the bearing damaging the axel, it might have been another one, but I would say the sooner you realize that the bearing is done for the more probable that the shaft is not worn down to a point where you would have to replace it. But thats only my take on it, and its not that expensive…
