Actually in La Passacaglia, G is silent. So it's pronounced like "pasakalia" :) Anyway, quilting seems to be very tricky!

You may have inspired me to finish my kaleidoscope quilt that I have left to languish for years half quilted. Long time ago I discovered Paula Nadelstern and her book Kaleidoscope Quilts. It’s similar to your project but it’s machine pieced and you make your own templates. It makes use of mirror images and motifs in the fabrics to make beautiful circles. The process was mesmerizing.

I love English paper piecing so much!!! An excellent palette cleanser: just one exquisite block and one table runner at a time. Just don't forget to take out those papers, 😂 Yes, EPS is foolproof, see "Schoolhouse Press" ;-) Thanks for reminding us that it's so very ok to set a (big) project aside for a few days to let the mind rest. 😘 Bravo on the big move👍Thank you for sharing your loveliness.

Congratulations on your move! I hope you love your new home. I’m thoroughly enjoying your English Paper Piecing adventures…I couldn’t do it, but it’s so interesting to see, and so beautiful! I say I couldn’t, I probably could…I’ve done extremely intricate tessellated origami, and tatted with the equivalent of upholstery thread, but something about sewing teeny fabric pieces breaks my brain. I love seeing all those gorgeous fabrics you choose come together. I moved out of the city and into the burbs about 8 years ago looking for peace, quiet, and a safer neighborhood. The quiet was deafening at first! It was wonderful, but it was also incredibly uncomfortable for a little while until I got used to it. I’d been surrounded by cacophony my whole life. Now, though, I’d never go back! My favorite time is late at night after a fresh snowfall…it’s almost literally silent and utterly amazing.
@Voolenvine2 жыл бұрын
Thank you! Ah yes, the deafening silence. I have this random childhood memory of spending the night at my aunt's house. She also lived in the burbs. At night, it was so silent, and the bedroom was pitch black -- I thought I'd suffocate until I spotted the comforting blink of an answering machine in the dark. 😂 So weird...

Yes, Brooklyn traffic is the worst! In fact, I have gotten motion sickness from the sudden slam on the brakes and drinks spilled much too often! You are so lucky to be moving to Westchester. I’ve been a Brooklynite for far too long, dying to move to a quieter place. I live in one of the worst intersection streets in Brooklyn, close proximity to the Belt! 🤦🏻♀️ Good luck in your new abode, Kristin! I am sure it will bring you much more joy and quiet than Brooklyn! Love Giucy Giuce and his fabric line - he partnered with Alison Glass on a line of mini EPP patterns I've also wanted to try! Also, you probably already know about these but I enjoy carrying my travel EPP in i-spy pouches and Sew Together bags. I don't get to comment much but I've been watching for years and even as a viewer can feel the sentiment of filming your last episode, but look forward to your moving vlog and seeing you settle in your new space!

Good luck with the move. We bought a second house at the Jersey shore(Neptune Township 1.9 miles to the beach)we go for walks on the boardwalk in almost any weather!, we still have a condo/townhouse in Florham Park, NJ (my son lives in it, he is an adult and a teacher. He just went back to school and we know teachers don't make much. We bought this house 4 years ago July. The condo we had every animal you could think of, here in Neptune I have to drive a while before I even see a deer. I wanted a house I was sick of condo life, people deciding everything for you, like what color your house should be etc. It is really loud here in Neptune but I have learned to live with it. It gets crazy here in the summer. But I am so close to Asbury Park, I love Asbury Park it's like being in the village! Driving down here can get a little crazy in the summer but when we have out first cold snap they all go home! Sorry this got so long. I imagine you bought a Victorian house maybe i'm wrong can't wait to see.

Your epp is looking great, I love doing epp too. One tip, I would press your pieces after basting, it helps give you crisp edges and makes the sewing easier.
@Voolenvine2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the tip! I'm a little hesitant to press since the glue stick is water-soluble. Maybe just a quick hot press (no steam) would be fine. I'll give it a try!

I feel you about Home Depot, but if it’s near Michaels I can be persuaded. I love your EPP. Reminds me of my time doing it 25 or so years ago. We used paper that was a bit sticky on one side when ironed. I remember burning my fingers once or twice while folding over the seams. Paula Nadelstern had some amazing designs using mirrors to place pieces. Also, I hate to be the Italian language police but I would pronounce it Passa “call - y - a”. The gli sound in Italian is tricky to non-natives, makes like a funny sort of a hard “yee”. But I might be wrong, my Italian is probably not what it used to be!

I say variety is the spice of life and you have definitely sold me on having "other" crafts to accompany my new love of yarn Watched the Meander English Paper Piecing & given my quilt fabric has been sitting a long time....I'm going to try it. Started back wire work & wire wrapping, made 2 trips to Michael's & JoAnn Fabrics for craft wire & bought flat back swarovski crystals to glue on my coffee cozy...HA! extra push of creativity. Why I did this I don't know because torching metal, glueing stones to coffee mugs & knitting/crocheting yarn don't seem to go together :) Happy moving to you & Dennis

Your don't look up sweater is turning out amazing. When I saw that movie I also immediately noticed it, and it seems like so has everyone else in the knitting community. Also: I just left you a comment on how your pronunciation of passacaglia is wrong, because in Italian gl is pronounced l. But then I was unsure and looked it up and you're totally right! Now you've sent me down a rabbit hole of weirdly pronounced musical terminology 😂
@terricox35592 жыл бұрын
Gl in Italian is pronounced lyuh, not l. Tagliatelle is like ta-lyuh-telleh (Italian speaker :-))
