I had one of these and it got me pretty far. I liked it for what it is, which is really solid for the price. You sold me on the P4Xi and I definitely prefer it over the PST gen 1. But I could definitely make a PST 1-4 work if I was stuck with one. Very clear for what it is.

Good seeing Navyman over here! The Viper PST Gen 1 can be had for $280 atm. Do you think the Steiner is worth more than double the price? Your glowing review of their latest reticle notwithstanding.
@navyman89032 жыл бұрын
@@canebrakeruffian1122 The P3Tr I'm good paying six hundred for, I know they fluctuate and I'm not about paying modern pricing for one honestly. I'd just default to a T5Xi 1-5 at that point. But in the $280 range I think they've got it held down, even over Primary Arms offerings. The PST gen 1 is solid at the price point and very useable. No massive fisheye problems, clear glass, and solid turrets. The illumination isn't on par with the P4Xi, but not bad for full reticle illumination. So the Steiner does offer things the PST doesn't, but you'll not catch me slandering the PST gen 1 1-4 either. Best in its price bracket. And C_Does is my go to for optics reviews, he's the reason I got the P4Xi in the first place. He did some of the best videos I had ever seen with optics. Very practical and well executed.

I love this thing but the turrets are never quite where you left 'em. And I'm not going to shell out 700 bucks for the RARE capped Canadian model.

You have to be really patient with the setscrews, and be a little lucky. And make sure your not on burrs that are on the erector shaft.... If that Canadian model was $200 they'd sell more then they'd know what to do with

Love the scope for CMP/ nra high power. Had to go to adjustable parallax eventually though. It’s still sitting on a different AR and still love getting it out.

I have one of these on my Home Defense rifle and like it a lot. I also much prefer SFP to FFP for that use. It's much more important for me to see the reticle an aim quickly at short ranges with this setup than to be able to "range" and "dial" with this setup. YMMV, but it's nearly perfect for my use in my situation.

I don’t understand why the turrets aren’t capped on a 1-4x LPVO.
@MichaelStroup2 жыл бұрын
A lot of people already said it, but it is for High power/service rifle competitions. It just really needed a parallax adjustment to be perfect. The Hi-Lux XTC 1-4x34 Service Rifle Scope probably is a better bet now a days for that. But i think the parallax adjustment on that is weird.

I think the rules state you can't go over 4x magnification on your optic? Maybe it's 5x. I can't remember

If I had an optics company the first line I would make would be K.I.S.S 1-5 LVPO and K.I.S.S 2-10 MVPO. Both SFP. Open to reticle ideas but need to simple. And good illumination. Good eye box and relief and all the other optical qualities. Ball parking €300 and $400 respectively. After that. I would be open to making something more technical and high speed FFP with parallax adjustment etc…

I stayed to hear the vengaboys bit one more time 😅. I still have this on my 16 AR for the past 6 years. Resisted upgrading all these years. Lightweight and clarity wins me over all the time. Ive got the shims inside the turrets to hold and return to zero without issues

Please keep in mind that the Trijicon Credo 1-6 in SFP in red has a very bright reticle and is very daylight visible even on a bright sunny day. I won’t call it T-1 bright, but pretty damn bright. I have no problem picking it up and it draws my eyes in even in the sun. The glass is also very good and I’m a glass snob who owns a Swarovski Z6i 1-6.
@ExplorinInTheWoods2 жыл бұрын
The 1-6 is a good optic, I’m surprised they didn’t move the same electronics into the 1-4. The 1-6 HX is very bright and the 1-6 BDC one is daylight visible but not like nuclear bright.

@stug77 Жыл бұрын
For people who side mount a red dot, would you consider covering options like a Leupold FX-I or FX-3 instead of an lpvo. They're super lightweight and I'd assume the glass to be really good because you can tailor it for that magnification. I'm really curious to know how much performance is to be gained over a prism and how much is lost going to variable magnification.

This reticle in a PST 1-6 would be killer. It’s a shame they don’t put it in there.
@theimplication25812 жыл бұрын
They prioritized daylight bright, which is near impossible when you are illuminating an etched reticle.

If you plan on DMR'ing or dialing for longer ranges, this. If you Chrono your load and input all your info into strelok, the rt6 could work if everything matches up for ya. Really depends on what you're doing with the rifle.
