LPVO on a quick release mount + flip up irons = modern combat rifle

I run my LPVO with canted Irons. Realistically, you can take a LPVO off of a rifle without a QD mount if your mount has the scope bedded and leveled. Mount is going to same rail sections, same torque. Still going to be very combat effective IF you have to remove it for whatever reason.

I got one of these and put it on my Aero Precision M5E1 and I really like it a lot so far. A lot of people said I should have gotten a scope with a lot more power but where I am in the Carolinas, field of view is a little more important than range; mostly because you're not likely going to be shooting longer ranges than 100 or 200 yards with the exception of some private ranges. The Viper 2-10 will probably go on another build later.

I’ve been looking into one of these for my lwrc di rifle. I’ve thought about 1-6 as my 1-4 leupold could use a tad bit more magnification for fun. I don’t want to go to high, as I don’t like to spend forever squinting to try to find a reticle. This seems like the perfect buy for what I’m looking for. 25-50yard plinking and occasional 100-200 yard target shooting. Enjoyed the commentary. Thank you for posting

1-6X is def the sweet spot for a "do all" LPVO. I see a lot of "Gen 3, 1-10X Vortex Razor's" for sale on Equipment Exchanges. Everything's a trade off; a 1-8X 1-10X you lose field of view and have "eyebox" issues with increased upper end magnification. On a 5.56 most folks will never have a shot beyond 300 yds, a 1-6X cover zero to 400 yds nicely.

Great video. I have a Strike Eagle, Viper PST, and a Razor 1-6x. I can’t tell the difference between the Razor and Viper glass. Both are as bright as my T-1 as well. Since I could buy 2 Vipers for the price of one Razor, it’s my pick as well.

I love those ADM mounts but it weighs 9oz 😦 with a scope this heavy I went with the Aero Precision super lightweight mount. It comes in at 3oz and change. So saving 6 oz’s on the mount should help offset some the PST’s heft.

The price doesn't matter. I read an article stating that the SF guys will buy their own LPVO and many of them buy the Strike Eagles due to cost. They don't have the money to buy the high end stuff. Shit if the SF guys can run Strike Eagles then a Viper PST should be fine.
@frankopanklaric4 жыл бұрын
I read the same article. It did suprise me that SOF guys dont have money for a razor. I did buy this scope on the end. I am loving it.

@TheLogitech913 жыл бұрын
@@channeellll7623 No. I did not think that. I thought they were given the best equipment. I didn't think SOF guys had to buy their own equipment. I also didn't think they would be given shit equipment. My other point was that if a Strike Eagle is good enough for SOF then it's probably more than enough for the average person.

I personally dont like the strike eagle, and they are supposed to be given good quality gear, and for their deployments, almost everyone I know personally, runs or did use an Eotech, Aimpoint micro, elcan, acog, vortex HD, or Nightforce, but on their personally owned guns, didnt have the coin to afford what they used while working for the DoD.

So I just picked one of these up. I'll tell you my logic compared to higher end scopes like the viper 1-10 etc.: Think of your platform and its accuracy. I'm throwing mine on a Tavor 7. reportedly 1.5 moa at best. So while I purchased this quality optic, I couldn't rationalize anything higher as the rifle won't keep up with the optic. If I were to maybe go to a semi auto AR10 that had some precision to it...I would likely spend more. Inversely...if your shooting a small caliber. Maybe don't drop 3k on the optic. 5.56/.223 etc can go 5-600 meters. but really. your playing between 0m and 300m - if that. So what will 3k scopes get you that a 1k scope won't?
@1911syndicate4 жыл бұрын
Oh yea on 223 I wouldn’t run a 3k optic

The new 1-10x comes with the throw lever now FYI. Street price is around $1700 for the Gen 3 1-10x where the 1-6x Gen II-e is around $1200-$1250.
@SkinnySkinch4 жыл бұрын
I don't think the Razor HD gen II-e 1-6x is worth more than double the Viper PST gen 2. The viper is an amazingly Chrystal clear daytime bright optic. So is the HD gen II-e. So in my opinion wheres the extra $800 come from is what I wanna know.
@SkinnySkinch4 жыл бұрын
You're right though he is off on his prices. The Viper PST is $599 all day long street price. $60 for throw lever and $150 if you wanna waste money on a mount or $75 if you go with an Aero thats just as good. The HD gen II-e is $1,399. If I was spending that kinda money, id save more and get the new 1-10x.

The US Green Berets used this optic heavily in Afghanistan on their Block II rifles. They even used Strike Eagles, which are cheaper. That’s also what I’m looking at. I’m used to that as a hunting optic and seem just fine, in a lot of cases better than a 1-6. My question is do you really need the low end 1-3x magnification? I’m not defending my house with this, just putting holes in paper at 100 yds
@mrdark99162 жыл бұрын
Entirely different philosophy of use...... For optics like this you're paying more for the ability to have a good 1x and a daylight bright red dot, with the ability to zoom into 6 for farther jobs
