It's worth noting that the Vanquish has an etched glass crosshair to the wires on a Crossfire. Wires can shift or get broken from recoil, whereas etched glass can never be affected by recoil. You may think, who cares it's a lifetime warranty, but you may not realize your crosshairs have shifted until after you missed the shot on a buck of a lifetime.

I'm curious, but why wouldn't this optic be usable for long range shooting if it has BDC markers and holds zero well? Granted I understand that serious long-range bench shooters have crazy magnification on their optics, however I don't see why you couldn't hit out to 800 or even 1000 yards if it's mounted on a larger caliber 1 MOA or better rifle. I just scored one at Academy today for $169 if I remember correctly (I still need to pick it up tomorrow), however I used a $30 discount AND I get a $100 academy gift card with it. So it all kinda came together nicely for me. I'm using this to replace a super basic Weaver optic that came on my new Savage Axis .308 rifle. I probably won't invest too much more in this rifle as I plan on getting a Thompson Center Compass II in 6.5 CM once ammo prices come back down to reasonable levels. Until then I'm just plinking with NATO spec ammo which it shoots rather well at around 1.7 to 2 MOA. If I can find affordable ammo that shoots at 1 MOA or below I perhaps will get a Boyd's stock or at least do some modifications to stiffen the current stock so I can use a bipod without the stock touching the barrel. I lucked out on my trigger in that mine is actually crisp with zero mush coming in at 3lbs. So I am hoping that this Vortex Vanquish optic will let me more easily ring some gongs out to 800 meters (letting the barrel cool down after every 5 rounds).

Yes it is very possible to shoot out to 800 to 1000 to 1200 yards with any scope but it’s a lot harder to do it when you don’t have a parallax making it to where it can focus is then it makes it look like it’s very hazy when shooting out to that distance especially on a hotter day when there’s already a mirage but yes it’s very possible

@@JustPewIt As a follow-up to my comment a year ago, I've since shot my Savage Axis out to only 300 yards, however now that I've gotten accustomed to the reticle and read the manual many times over (and have a Srelok ballistic app with the Deadman reticle among many others), I'm now seeing that my comment was a bit naive. lol It is possible to hit out to 800 (not sure about 1000) with the optic if you do some calculations with a ballistics app and adjust the elevation turrets appropriately, however it's designed to hit only out to 600. That being said, that's more than enough for me until I can find a range that goes past 500 yards. Still, overall it's been a great optic. I'm quite happy with it. However it's getting tough finding inexpensive .308 ammo now sadly. I'm definitely going to need to get into reloading. :(

@@JustPewIt Yup... Likewise I've been buying Academy's Monarch brand of .308 ammo (FMJ and Soft Point). I also occasionally online still find good deals on Tula steel cased .308 ammo, but most sellers have jacked up the prices of Tula .308 ammo to even more than the prices of many brass-cased FMJ ammo brands. Thankfully I stockpiled a large amount of Tula .308 when Biden banned imports of Russian ammunition. But I use it sparingly until I can get into reloading and get good at reloading my .308 brass ammo. I'm still in the research and learning phase figuring out what to buy for my first reloading setup so that I don't waste money. Also studying all the safety aspects so I don't blow myself up and/or blow up my guns. :P It's a steep learning curve, but worth it especially for my .357 magnum firearms. But back to .308, I'm really enjoying my cheap Savage Axis rifle. Incredible value for its accuracy and ruggedness. It makes for a great "Poor Man's Precision Target Rifle" and of course it's a solid hunting rifle being very light-weight, well balanced, and very rugged. The Vortex Vanquish optic was sadly not a perfect match for it as it did not fit on the distance between rings. So I had to get special Weaver rings that extended out farther so that the scope would fit. Next bolt-gun I get will definitely have a monolithic rail so as to avoid this problem.

At 50 yards you want it to be about .5 over the bull’s-eye so at 60 yards it would be a perfect shot and at 100 yards it would be 4.5 lower.

Would you say these are better than the crossfire II?
@JustPewIt
@JustPewIt Жыл бұрын
I would say it’s better but…. It’s not worse! Honestly I really can’t tell a difference between the two when I look at them and also with the vanquish it’s a 4-12x40 vs most crossfire 2s you’ll find in 3-9x40 unless you get the hog hunting which I believe is a 4-12x50. I hope that helps also look into the vortex Sonora it’s a 4-12x44 it’s currently being sold on palmetto for $129 with rings
