Vortex Venom 5-25x56 Ammo test with Savage Axis 2 Precision in 270 win

First off absolutely love this rifle and scope but that Hornady super performance is absolutely horrible in 270! Watch full video to see that this was not on me lol. Hope you guys enjoy it!

Great video. I also have had lackluster results with SST. My TC Compass II .308 Win regularly shoots 1/2 MOA, about like your Savage .270. With the right ammo. And for me, it is Federal Fusion 165 grain. I did try some 150 SST. It was not as wide as 12 inches, thankfully. But the barrel heated up and it was over an inch of target spread. First time I tried SST was with my older rifle, a Mossberg Patriot .308 Win with a Vortex 3-9X40 Dead Hold (it was a combo like that from the factory.) Scope was pretty good, the groups were nothing to write home or to anyone else about.

My Savage 110 shoots the Superformance about the same! In fact it shoots most factory ammo pretty bad! The Hornady Outfitter is the only ammo I’ve got to group consistently, about 1/2”. Fortunately I hand load!

I shot Hornady super performance in my 243 axis and wasn’t happy with the results. Not 5 MOA inaccurate, but inaccurate nonetheless. My guess is that “super performance” means the round of loaded up with extra powder to achieve higher velocity, and other considerations such as consistency aka “sameness” of the rounds is not controlled in their manufacturing process.

Twist rate of the barrel has everything to do with it. Its obvious that this ammo is just NOT stabilizing, in "your" gun.

All Hornady ammo is garbage in my opinion. I had some in 7mm rem mag that wouldn’t even feed we checked them and the cases were all swollen and different sizes.
