I just commented on the video, but seriously, when it comes to the shugoki thing you're just wrong. I played THE HELL out of goki and half the changes are nerfs to his strongest abilities, but oooooo he can now chain heavies into unblockables, but they can be interrupted. Demon's embrace now only does 25 and heals 25, but it can also be interrupted by team mates. The headbutt isn't guaranteed... do I really need to say more? Unless I'm missing something the only "buffs" he got were just quality of life changes.

Almost rep 60 on my Shug. Been playing him since the early technical tests when he was first available. It's been a long road, but I'm glad Shug has finally gotten the love he deserved. I hope everyone has a great time with the new heroes and changes this year! I was just interested when you were talking about how the new Demon's Embrace is a tad weak. I disagree only because it also refills his stamina and it can be activated from most of his moves and the sheer speed of it. Love the videos (especially the Shug duels) and I can't wait to see some new Black Prior footage on your channel. I'm also super hyped for the new Samurai hero and I hope they have an interesting back story similar to the BP.

I'm not too worried about the passive hyper armor because this is much better for trading with hyper armor on his lights and heavies. I'm just glad we don't take increase damage now. Always awesome to see another Shugoki player.

@@carsontyler3203 same also forgot about the extra damage when hyper armour was gone, always thought it was kinda bullshit that a heavy would take the same amount of damage as an assasin because they got hit before. It'll be great to not have that any more and if you get hyper armour from each attack it'll motivate shugoki players to be more offensive and not turtle as much which is good and also maybe these new combos and possibilities will draw in more players that didnt like his previous play style so hopefully we will see more shugoki bro's on the field after this patch

Vorty looks super cool. Cant wait to see all the edgelord builds for him. The full block is super interesting, and as far as bashes go his looks like it'll be good enough but not like annoying like *some heroes* . I may not main him, but I'm definitely gonna give him a try (and 15k steel since I dont have the pass) so I'm gonna wait till then to see how much I like playing him. His zone is weird, I think the bulwark heavy will probably be his go to minion clear, especially with the feat that lets him heal on bulwark.

Thanks for the video, excellent discussion, I'll offer my thoughts now to contribute to the discussion. I'm not a huge fanboy of Ubi but I have to say I can't see much to be disappointed about with this set of changes. As for the PK and Warlord reworks sounds like everything I wanted! Just a small buff that makes the heroes more effective and satisfying to play without using cheap gimmicks to get an advantage. As for Shugoki, sounds and looks amazing! I really love that the're trying to make him compete with Warlord as a decent heavy, all he needed was some tweaking of the BS abilities and aspects of him like damage on whiff, innate hyper armor, and one shot kill. They didn't change some of the utility like his ability to trade and they made his kit flow together in a smooth way, I love it! As for Vortiger they look amazing! A couple of bashes to open people up might upset some people but they are effective and nothing we as a community can't handle, they don't look unreactable like Conq's dodge bash or to slow to land like Conq's heavy soft faint. A nice sweet spot, personally I'd love it if they flushed out the kit a little more and included some soft faint attacks using the shield like you suggest but it looks usable as a Warlord player, also if we could have the ability to move in full block as Warlord and Conqueror that would be amazing!

Nah its not gonna be hard or at least as hard as the wu lin. -Forward dogde into shield bash/guard break is similar to conqs shield bash. -full stance is easy to counter, just heavy feint into gaurdbreak like with aramusha, conq and warlord

The thing is the kite shield isn't supposed to be offensive. Its tall and in the offensive way, is oddly shaped. Its tall and heavy cause its primarily meant for blocking mostly everything, without being as cumbersome as a scrutum. Conqs sheild works cause its smaller, more rounded and evenly shaped, and allows abit more freedom of movement. Where glad is the epitome of offensiveness with his small buckler thats could for shrugging off attacks (deflects), and light enough that you can swing it at the enemy like its your own hand(his dodge bashes). The warlord never made sense cause he handles his sword and shield like a dwarf, with stubby movements that match his arms. Regardless Black prior is definitely gonna replace my warden as main as it has everything I like. A knightly appearance, a straight foward kit, a simple but effective gimmick, and ofcourse sword and shield, the one weapon pair I use in every rpg/mmo.

What disappointed me about the Warlord changes is his fullblock>light riposte still isn't confirmed; also, why nerf headsplitter leap? It was bad enough already; now it's one feature (headbutt confirmed on block) is gone. For Shugoki i kind of whish he had a gap closing move; it used to be the zone but now that got replaced with a shorter range attack. Beyond that however i'm super excited for both the Shugoki and Warlord changes; my two mains are both getting massive improvements; unlocked Wl was deservedly nerfed. As for PK: more zone spam=I don't like.

How can you in the slightest be disappointed or underwhelmed with all the content they showed in those three hours!? Pro tip Infinite: Stop expecting. Have a little more faith in Ubi's work. If I'm honest, Shugoki's rework is exactly what he needed. People have been speculating a soft-feint to Demon's embrace, and have also always wanted the charged UB heavies to be feintable. Not to mention a better zone, which can now be chained with a heavy or UB heavy. The mixups and mind games will be a force to be reckoned with now. Faster lights, too. As for Vortiger (Black Prior[BP]), he/she absolutely meets my expectations. I don't believe the bash is too fast, and won't be the main source of damage. I don't think he's mainly too defensive, because he also has an UB heavy from his stance, which can pressure a bit. His stance is a tad like Ara's AB, and as far as we know GBs are the only counter. We have later to test whether Nuxia is a hard counter. As far as I'm concerned, the bashes are nice, with 2-3 ways to use it to open opponents. It'll be interesting to see the combos. Ubi REALLY did a great job presenting everything, and everything looks complete and clean. They worked really hard on A LOT of stuff, and I'm really excited for next week.

Great video. Warlord’s superior lights are also unblockable, not sure if I heard you mention that, I could be wrong though. I dont think there’s much to worry about, in terms of the Black Prior. The shield bash looks no where near as fast as Conq’s. In the breach gameplay they did, the Nobushi managed to consistently dodge it. His lights are fairly slow too, but im sure people will say he’s too fast to be a heavy too. Unfortunately. Shugoki looks amazing, Im excited to play that. I honestly thought they’d make him parry bait, but thankfully, I was wrong. Im ready for Season 9. Im ready for Season 10 and Season 12 too, im real pumped for those.

I'm happy to see improvements to any character even if I don't really play them. It is beyond annoying to play a hero that is obviously very weak or to fight against one that is weak. Hopefully, now that the Shugoki rework will be live soon and the Peacekeeper/Warlord improvements will be out, that means that they'll eventually work on the other heroes that are in a really bad place. Obviously, they'll finally work on Lawbringer, but I swear -- They better work on Aramusha, Centurion, Nobushi, Raider, and Orochi. Having horrible or non-existent openers is annoying. As someone that mains Centurion, Raider, and Orochi, I'm tired of having to feint 9,000 + attacks to get a single hit in against people that know to turtle and do so effectively against heroes with lacking kits. I've been wanting to add Aramusha to my primary played heroes, but I just can't until he gets fixed. I don't need to be playing four characters with non-threatening kits.

I still feel like Shugoki is gonna be awful at high level play. All of his attacks are still very slow, he still has no reliable opener, they straight nerfed his headbutt and his health, and all of his "soft-feint" into DE look hilariously predictable. Very disappointing.

The only reason Goki had 160 hp was because of the 20% dmg bonus he took once his hyper armor was down. I'd say it is a fair trade off for no longer taking 20% more dmg and makes fighting him a lot more fun. Besides, you can almost reach that 160 hp with Bulk Up at 156. While he has no reliable opener, he does have many more options for going offensive like the new soft feint into hug or the ability to feint charged heavies even once the unblockable property kicks in, I'd say Ubi did a very good job at updating him. We still have yet to experience him ourselves to fully conclude on his official state in terms of high level play so i suggest you withhold your final opinion until maybe a week or two after Season 9 starts.

The female Black Prior is not the leader of that group. Vortiger is the name of the male BP, who is the leader, and Erzebet is the female BP, who is simply a member of the group.

In my opinion as a rep 22 goki his rework is another nerf, demons embrace is still easily dodged that soft feint is WAY to slow to trick any decent player, no more confirmed headbut, no more passive hyper armor, demons embrace got a massive nerf, and a health nerf. The ONLY improvement is faster attacks but that was only bringing him ON PAR with the rest of the cast (pretty sure his heavy's are still the slowest). After 2 years of nerfs his rework MADE HIM WORSE. HOW THE HELL DO YOU MAKE THE WORST HERO WORSE??!!

Man that doesn't make any sense, the DE softfeint works because it's intended to be thrown out when your opponent is trying to parry so it would always catch them when they re in the middle of it, not to say it's way faster from neutral and doesn't drain health on miss. Also he now has a proper feintable unblockable that he can also use as a finnisher since he got new chains. They gave hyper armour to everything and the 25% morr dmg taken when the passive was down is now gone. I just see a really good rework right here my friend

I agree his kit seems sparse, but I think it's because he's more about countering agression and punishing anyone being predictable. He will be a nightmare in team fights because he can catch and punish JJ, Nobu, and Goki's external attacks. You'll always have to dance around him. At least he's more aggressive than Conq.

I really think Black Prior and season 9 in general will bring so much to the game that we never thought possible. They said balance will be their top priority so I hope they come through with that. I think Black Prior is just a glimpse as to what we can expect for the rest of the heroes this year. Fighting is getting more and more advanced as this game evolves n I’m glad to see it moving forward like this. Should be an interesting year!

Those look like very good additions all round. Peacekeeper having just a bit more damage off of guardbreak (she is a guardbreak machine after all) and warlord given more attack options. And in this day and age where mixups and options from neutral are everything, I think Shugoki got a really good deal. I suspect he may get some small damage buffs here and there, though.

I completely agree with that shield doing some damage. Honestly I think it should be some sort of bleed to get enemies to back off and wait sort of like get off otherwise your going to be bleed out with a parry counter or a soft feignt.

Warlord needs more. He's a one dimensional heavy. Compare him to reworked Goki, Vortiger, or JJ (Conq is better but still fairly 1D) and he doesn't hold up. Hopefully Year 3 is the year o the heavies because if Warlord gets a huge buff i'm definitely playing him. The first time I seen the shield flip counter on Vortiger I thought "Warlord should have had that!". Every time a new hero comes out I feel like it should have been a rework instead, just like how JJ should have been Lawbringer, Shaolin should be Orochi, Nuxia is PK, and Tiandi could be split up into the Samurai faction (kicks are Nobu, dodge lights are Shinobi, etc). This game is going to suffer even more from power creep, and all they needed to do is just mesh the characters into the existing cast. The only reason they have for adding more characters is to sell more copies and passes since the original cast was very diverse and the new characters only add a small bit of flavor.
