Late to the party; thanks for having me. As an American historian, I am beyond excited to use this game with some of my students. If you're into this era of history, let yourself look into the stories on some of these cards. The one shown that gives the Suffragists wins in ties during final voting has a fantastic story about how Tennessee became one of the final states to ratify the 19th amendment. Thanks for the video!

It was a pleasure to make this video, so glad you enjoyed it! And yes, I love the presentation of the history found in the cards and throughout the supporting documents.

I own this game. It is a great puzzle- I have only played solo but even with good play it has its tense moments. I am very happy with the entire production and a great implementation of an important theme. Thanks for showing it off. All the best

The replica documents look really neat. Would be cool if more games had similar paraphernalia to give context to lore or history.

No plans to currently (so many games, so little time), but I am currently playing that one remotely with a friend. We're 3 scenarios in - we've been really enjoying it.

Paula gets to play as Casey Mulligan? (I know that was the British movie about their suffragettes but Casey starred in one of the most famous New Who episodes) And things were going so well with the game for her to win, and then you had to bring out her archnemesis, dice. Definitely will watch the episode as the game looks great.

Looks great, any idea on when it'll be hitting retail and whether it'll be available in the UK?
@WatchItPlayed Жыл бұрын
Hey Mark, I've been told they have distribution in Europe but not the UK - at least so far. In the meantime, they recommend anyone outside of North America buy from the US Amazon site, as they say it offers by far the cheapest shipping options: www.amazon.com/dp/B09TMFFMVJ

Hey Mark, it’s available now (end of March) from Second Chance games in U.K.

I like the historical flavor text in this game. My fear would be trying to sanitize the US suffrage movement. I noticed on a card it acknowledged racism among some of the women. That’s a good sign.
@WatchItPlayed Жыл бұрын
At the end of the day, it's going to be an abstraction (as it's hard to fit all that history into a small box), but I get the sense that it does try to show respect to the nuances of the stuggle.

Every time I see this game, I'm reminded of the episode of Another Period with the competing protest groups: "No votes for women!" "No! Votes for women!" Anyway, I want to check this game out. A different game, The Vote: Suffrage and Suppression in America (2020, Hollandspiele) has also been on my wish list since that was released.

You might be surprised to hear that are many. We've done a few others here - look up 1960 The Making Of The President, and Sekigahara, as a couple of examples, if you're interested.

This game looks pretty cool... Is it just me or a "turn" should have been called a "round"? 😁
@WatchItPlayed Жыл бұрын
It's not just you. Player's take turns, games are played in rounds, imo.
@hairbrainedgames3127 Жыл бұрын
@@WatchItPlayed Yeah, agreed. I just dealt with a different game that overloaded the word "turn" for "a game turn" and "a player's turn" and it was the single most confusing aspect of trying to teach it. Games do rounds. Players do turns. It just simplifies things so much, and it matches users general expectations.

At $75 per game for up to four players, how is this feasible to use in the classroom? It would cost $450 for one class to play. It looks like a wonderful game, but the cost is prohibitive.
@WatchItPlayed Жыл бұрын
Hi Betsy, I don't feel like this is something I can assess for someone else. Not really possible for me to determine for you what the cost/benefit payoff would be for your situation. I do think it's great that you're exploring the possibility of using a game like this in the classroom.
