Just the same in Guimaras island in Philippines, the locals went bald that time and donated all their hairs. Now 14yrs after that oil spill, Guimaras once again boasts its pristine beaches with white sand, you can't even find a trace of the oil spill. Guimaras recovered because the locals immediately attempted to contain the oil after the spill. For anyone who had this question too, found this through the link in the description. (FAQ section of the website) *How are used hair mats disposed of?* In the US, Hazmat teams are usually legally responsible for all oil spill debris, and conventionally all the debris goes to landfills or is incinerated. Whether it’s a diaper that was left on the beach or a hair boom or a shoe… When the press is watching, Hazmat cleanup crews are much more vigilant. Eventually, the public gets what we call “oil spill story fatigue,” and when no one is looking, cleanup becomes sloppier. Hair mats and booms too can be burned as a fuel of course. They are mostly just hair and oil. But this should be done in a closed system that is conscious of particulates and toxins. *Can used hair mats be wrung out reused?* Although hair mats and booms are strong and can be wrung out, they’re better for one use because they get so much dirt, sand, seaweed etc. stuck in them and it becomes a messy and unnecessary business to try and reuse them. Also, like with any towel or sponge, they become a little less efficient than the first time. Hair is a renewable resource and you can usually make more than enough mats and booms. *Can used hair mats be composted?* Our organization has successfully demonstrated the remediation of bunker fuel oiled mats during an 18 month program from 2007-2009 by combining the use of fungal and bacterial inoculates, thermophilic composting, and vermicomposting. This remediation process, though successful, was costly in time, labor, and space. We have learned that we can cut labor costs significantly by incorporating ventilation tubes into the compost pile. Additionally, the oily hair mats must be free of all dispersants, like Corexit (a chemical used by oil companies to break up the oil and make it sink. Corexit turned out to be an endocrine disrupter and toxic for volunteers).
@falconerd3436 жыл бұрын
Yes! I thought the same thing. Great, you have a bunch of oil soaked hair. Now what? Burning hair mats makes the most sense to me. You still use the oil for its original intended purpose; and it just goes away without taking up space in a landfill where it can cause leaching pollution.
@SD-tj5dh6 жыл бұрын
Just asked this question myself! Thanks! It makes sense to still fuel burn them I guess so long as the emissions can be filtered. Burning hair isn't exactly a pleasant smell.

Alexa: "ok Christopher playing Despacio dubbed" Yes, you know that I’ve been looking at you for a long time I must dance with you today (DY) (Daddy Yankee) I saw that the look in your eyes was calling me Show me the path that I will take (Oh) (Luis Fonsi) You, you’re the magnet and I’m the metal I am getting closer and making a plan Simply thinking about it makes my heart race (Oh yeah) (Daddy Yankee) Now, I’m already liking it more than usual All of my senses are asking for more We cannot do this in a rush (Luis Fonsi) Slowly I want to breathe in your neck slowly Let me murmur things in your ear So that you remember if you’re not with me Slowly I want to undress you in kisses slowly Firmly in the walls of your labyrinth And of your body, I want to create a manuscript Up, up Up, up, up I want to see your hair dance I want to be your rhythm Want you to show my mouth Your favorite places (Favorite, favorite baby) Let me trespass your danger zones Until I make you scream And you forget your last name (Daddy Yankee) If I ask for a kiss come give it to me I know that you’re thinking about it I’ve been trying to do it for awhile Mami this is giving and giving it to you You know that with me your heart goes bom bom You know that from me that babe is looking for a bom bom Come try my mouth and see if you like its taste I want to see how much love fits in you I’m not in a rush I want to experience this trip Let’s start slowly, then savagely Step by step, soft then softly We come up against each other, little by little When you kiss me in that state of distress I see that you are malice and delicacy Step by step, soft then softly We come up against each other, little by little And it’s just that your beauty is a puzzle But to finish it here I have the missing piece (Luis Fonsi) Slowly I want to breathe in your neck slowly Let me murmur things in your ear So that you remember if you’re not with me Slowly I want to undress you in kisses slowly Firmly in the walls of your labyrinth And of your body, I want to create a manuscript Up, up, up, up I want to see your hair dance I want to be your rhythm Want you to show my mouth Your favorite places (Favorite, favorite baby) Let me trespass your danger zones Until I make you scream And you forget your last name Slowly We’re gonna do it on a beach in Puerto Rico Until the waves scream Oh Lord So that my seal stays with you (Daddy Yankee) Step by step, soft then softly We come up against each other, little by little (Luis Fonsi) I want you to show my mouth Your favorite places (Favorite, favorite baby) (Daddy Yankee) Step by step, soft then softly We come up against each other, little by little (Luis Fonsi) Until I make you scream And you forget your last name Slowly. but seriously how is this supposed to be a sad song?

Yo. Hair salons would be greatly beneficial to this and help with all the hair that is cut from people.

Couldnt we use a water pump to pump the oil into a tank? The oil will float to the top and the water can be drained out through the bottom of the tank. The oil would be reclaimed and it would be more cost effective. Isnt transporting materials to soak up the oil extremely inefficient and what happens to the contaminated oil/hair? It has to go somewhere.
