I have the ST and SE models. Both great units in their own rights for on the fly setups. Most of the time I use my ST in the studio, but it has had a few outings to live gigs and is a solid backup for live use along with external pedals. Neither unit has let me down, when I've needed them they're there

Exactly the answers to the questions I was left with, after looking through all details of both units on the VOX site. Many thanks.

The Tonelab LE has some really nice sounding amp models and effects, some pretty unique features, and it is very well built. It makes you believe that real guitar players may have been involved in its design :) But than there are the unusual and in my opinion pretty questionable design choices, some of which i have never even seen on any other multi effect : 1. the ‘effect insert loop’ is placed directly behind the input before any processing, instead of after the amp models as in (all ?) other multieffects with a fixed insert loop. This location doesn’t add any functionality as you could already put other effects in front of the LE. It does however exclude the possibility to use the insert loop to integrate your own favorite preamp in place of the build-in amp models. 2. Despite the presence of a switch that can be triggered by the expression pedal, it is not possible to assign a dual functionality within a preset (like the very common combination of ‘volume’ and ‘wah’) 3. I wonder if any of the designers have really tried to used the LE, and in particular tried to switch between ‘preset’ and ‘stomp box’ mode (I do wonder what reasoning led to the choice of assigning such an important feature (often needed while playing ) as a second functionality that can only be triggered by holding a bank select switch that is located somewhere in the middle, surrounded by switches (In more than half of my attempts i end up in a completely different bank of sounds instead of the desired stompbox mode within that preset:) May be the designers were former ballerinas or tap dance experts ;) You should at least have provided users the possibility to assign this functionality to the control switch. Having it included in the midi functionality would have been nice as well (same for the tap tempo and tuner but now i am starting to nitpick ;))

@glassbottleblues The LE has bank buttons as well the effects buttons serve as patch buttons in bank mode. So, you can set up a bank for the different sounds in a song and switch between tones using the patch buttons. So, a bank per song and 4 tones per song. Set them up as you need them. If you need other effects like a delay or boost, you can add those using the insert in the back.

@lantyboy - it stands for 'Sony/Phillips Digital Interconnect Format', also referred to as 'Sony/Phillips Digital InterFace'. It's the data protocol, not really the connector type, but optical (fibre-optic) is one common type of hardware used as well as 75ohm coaxial connectors.

If instead of discontinued the LE they had upgraded it with an USB port , it would be the best multi effects around these days , better than the Pod Hd and Boss GT -10 ...

Clearly the smaller units are really a downgrade. So when I did choose to get a Vox, I bought the LE. It sounds like Vox and Korg need to work on the next step and offer some competition to Line 6, Fractal etc. Hope you guys pull it off. $3k for a great modeler is a bit much. We are rooting for you! : )

This guy's so funny. Watch his demo of the vox night train and see the faces he does when playing.

Wait, is that the same Donny Demarco from the boss demos? If so, he looks WAY different, LOL. sort of the same voice though

I got a Vox VT30 amp, which effect should I buy? Digitech RP355, Vox Tonelab ST, or Boss ME-20?
@SilverWalker847 жыл бұрын
the Vox VT30 already has all these effects built in. I highly suggest going to VHT.com and buying one of their high sensitivity speakers and put it in your VT30. You will be shocked. good luck
