I have been to Samana many times and have taken a small boat over from another resort to spend many hours on the public beach, it truly is a special beach and when i was there it was the the Bahia Principe Cayo Levantado, it has many changes over the years and i heard it was going to renovated. It looks beautiful now, its really a special place in the middle of the ocean. Samana is really a jewel of the Dominican and the drive from the airport in Samana is gorgeous, i love it.

Thank you for the review, can you say if the water get rough here and windy? how is it travelling on the boat to and from the resort ? just wondering if it would be too much for someone who might get sea sick from rough waters? what part of the year is the water calm? how much does it cost to take the boat to mainland ? this resort have seating areas throughout ? are there golf cart to carry you to different section of the resort?
@VoyagerGuruАй бұрын
Hey there! thanks so much for your comment. Eh, the water can be a bit rough but you can sit on the lower level and it's only about 10 minutes by boat so it's not too bad. It can be SUPER calm but it just depends on the weather that day honestly. They do have a free shuttle that runs abck and forth if you want to explore. Yes, there are a number of amazing relaxing areas around the hotel- the lobby bar is gorgeous as well as the beach club and main pool. For sure, if you would like a golf cart you can request it on whatsapp or you can flag someone down who is driving around the resort :). happy to answer any other questions!

@VoyagerGuru thank you, what time of the year would you say that part of DR the water is not rough ? Do you think this resort have bugs or ants issue ? Only asking bevuase i saw a youtube review of someone saying they had that experience, I have been looking for resorts that's not over crowded or everyone going there( e.g excaret resort in mexico too common ) medium size resort , lush and well kept grounds, great food, beautiful room, rooms with tub / jacuzzi, plunge pool ,romantic vibe atmosphere ,good service swimmable beach, laundry facilities , multiple restaurants that serve cooked fish, salmon, snapper, tuna, activities such as band singing, dance performances or shows but NOT party vibe resort ,just the right amount of entertainment, seats and golf cart around the resort, a resort close to or in an area where we can have the ability to explore areas/towns/shops off the resort if we decide to..
@VoyagerGuruАй бұрын
Hey! honestly, there's not really a bad time to visit but the water roughness is more based on storms and weather. September is probably the least consistently good weather time of year so keep that in mind due to the storms in the Caribbean. We didn't experience any major bug or mosquito issues, but be sure to bring some bug spray for dusk and dawn. It definitely fits your requirements of being not too overrun or crowded, it's very high end and definitely up there as one our favorites in the country so far honestly. Great option for exploring Samana/Las Terrenas as well!

@VoyagerGuru ok thank you, is sanctuary cap cana very far from this resort? If so, can you recommend atleast two resort less than 1 hr or less than 2 away from this resort in the vid that's nice as santuary cap cana and the resort in this video
@VoyagerGuruАй бұрын
@@pheliceafoster2752 Sanctuary is about 5 hours drive from this area of Samana so it's a bit of a hike. personally I would say if you want to do a few nights somewhere nearby, stay in Las Terrenas for a few nights and then come to cayo levantado. There's nothing SUPER nice very close. happy to help recommend some things if you shoot me an email at team@voyagerguru.com :) xx, Maren

How about the outdoor activities such as visiting other islands etc? Can we get private ones or everything needs to be done through the hotel? Gracias
@VoyagerGuru2 ай бұрын
Hey there! Thanks for reaching out! They do run shuttles to the mainland if you would like to go exploring. There are also tons of tours that do pick ups if you check out viator.com you can see what's available :). There are lots of whale watching tours etc in the area!
@alessonsouza39192 ай бұрын

Hey there! ahhh yea the new brand is much more expensive- it really is beautiful though so hopefully they'll run some deals one day :)

This is a truly stunning location but the value for money is not great. I was there before the reno and maybe its changed but as nice as it was the food/drinks/service are nowhere near what other resorts in this price category are. This is a pretty good all inclusive with a great location that cost as much as much or more than much higher end secrets/excellence/couples/sandals/hyatt resorts. The location is certainly worth paying more than other Bahia resorts but aside from the location there is nothing special or outstanding about this resort and you can go to many equivalent quality resorts for 30-50% less money and most resorts that cost this much are a lot better than this one.

Hi there! I would 100% agree with you, pre-renovation...however, this is a completely new hotel, that shares very little with it's former-self other than the location. The new Cayo Levantado Resort is honestly a property that, from our perspective, is deserving of the stunning location. While it still has room to grow, as we noted in our review, we feel confident in saying it's now up to the level where it's certainly one of the top hotels in area.

Dont be blended by those kind of videos. I have been in Samana and trust me. The ocean is dead and full of garbage. Even worse the second week of my 2 week vacation I didn't even enter the water because ist was so 🤢 dirty. Cayo Levantado was horrible too. Broken glas, used medicine packaging, old flipflops...soooo much platic garbage in that ocean....if you want nice vacation just dont go there

Hey there! Sorry to hear you had a bad experience! Did you stay at the resort or just visit the public beach on a tour? It's unfortunate to hear about the trash, but that wasn't our experience at all. Seasonly, just like anywhere else there are currents that I'm sure might wash more trash up than others. On the resort side they really keep the beach pristine, and had people raking it daily. The DR does have a trash problem though, but I don't think that's a fair characterization of all of Samana! Hopefully you give it a another chance someday, we love it down here 🤷♀️
