I have felt this way for the past two years...all testing does is freak people out and creates and fuels fears that every symptom you have is COVID when symptoms could be the result of allergies, the common cold, flu, etc. We have a neurotic culture now and every time you hear that you have been "exposed" you get triggered. Absolutely agree with your conclusion. Push fluids, rest, and stay home when you feel sick. My soul is weary.

I never tested for flue or common cold, why test for a mind virus? I last had a mild 2 day virus which might have been cold flue or covid back in January 2020. It did not stop me working. I was 65 then which they say made me likley to die from covid. This may be true where most people get more and more unhealthy as they age but I choose to get healthier as I age. Easily acheived, just do the exact opposite to official advice. Injest no processed food, grains, seed oils, fiber, vegitables, sugar or medications, eat predominatly red meat with high fat and salt, excercise regually and suprise suprise, perfect health.

@kali542 I think it was because of a study of Covid death, that low vitamin D₃ levels were common in most.
@lat1419
@lat1419 10 ай бұрын
@kali542 it was relevant among darker skinned health workers I the UK, where initially there was a higher death rate from the respiratory illness in 2020, who in our Northern climate are overwhelmingly vit d deficient. Once the link was made, it went out through one of the black medical associations, and the deaths stopped. I also am prone to Vit D deficiency having porphyria triggered by sunlight, so have to stay out the sun in our summer. My osteosurgeon said he was sure his vit d was OK as he had 2 sunny holidays every year. Yet he tested as very low in Vit D. It is a huge problem in Northern European countries, and in Sweden it is added to bread by law.

@goldcountryruss7035
@goldcountryruss7035 10 ай бұрын
@@iansuncoast Sun only works for producing Vitamin D when its angle is above 45degrees, hard to do as you get further north or south of the equator. Also, most people in the developed countries live indoor lives, others have been convinced that sunblock is necessary to prevent cancer and damaged skin, and some just don't want any tan at all. The bottom line is the majority of the earth's population have Vitamin D levels that are well below the minimum required for strong immunity and good health. Sun may not be enough, many people in countries with strong sun such as Italy, Portugal, and Spain have inadequate Vitamin D levels. The minimum level of Vitamin D was established about 100 years ago to a level known to prevent Ricketts. That has proven inadequate for immune health and an updated standard hasn't been set. I think a safe minimum 25-hydroxy vitamin D level is 50ng/mL or 125nmoL/L, my personal goal is 70/175.

I had symptoms. I was feeling achy and a dull headache at work. When I got home I had 101 temp. So the next day I tested and it was positive. I had to send a pic to work so they would pay me to stay home for 5 days. Symptoms subsided by day 4. Came back to work on day 6 with a mask required to wear 5 more days. They had me work in the back all day and One person was freaking out that I came to work and told everyone that I had covid and was SICK and I came to work anyway. I got sent home after being at work for 5.5 hours! smh. Then the boss realized he made a mistake and said I could come back the next day. Testing positive for covid is a new way to be singled out as the leper in the group. Being separated and ostracized. A scarlet letter C on your shirt. The crazy thing is it is turning around. My company used to have a very generous sick policy. They then switched to a very specific granted 40 hours, because some people were ending the year with more than 40 hours of sick pay not made up through our unpaid overtime policy (fiscal year ending in December guarantees that). Now everyone always uses the 40 hours up. They don't like that since it is granted at the start of the year, so they are adding to the standard vacation accrual so you don't get the 40 hours until the end of the year. But you know, you're supposed to stay home if you get sick for a week.

Luckily my doctor never wore a mask during covid and was against the vaccine from the beginning. I have to see him every 30 day because of my prescriptions and during covid it was do nice to walk into the office and not see masks on the staff. Some patients complained so he did online appointments with them. When I seen him 2 day's ago he told me they had 4 patients die from fast cancers in December and every single one of them had the vaccine and boosters. That's a lot of patients for a small practice.

Masks aren't 100% but they do reduce spread of larger droplets. It is as simple as that. Masks do lower transmission odds of contagions like cold, flu, covid. It may be by only an average of 20 to 60% but there is a measurable difference.

I finally caught covid for the first time now. A doctor friend insisted I take a test, I told her no. After the second day of feeling terrible, I went ahead and used an expired antigen test. It showed I had both the C and T line very darkly so I had it. I asked her what it tells me. She said, "Oh it means you should quarantine yourself". I responded, "Um. That's it? You should do that if you are sick like this anyway." I posted the same thing on my facebook, most were sympathetic and a few said people that some people are going to go out are going to go out anyway and then I get a keyboard warrior who used to be a friend saying "OH THE ECONOMY IS FINE AND IF PEOPLE HAD NOT SPREAD IT MY WIFE'S GRANDFATHER MIGHT NOT HAVE DIED BEFORE SHE SAID BYE DUR HUR". I'm an unpoked flight attendant, and all the people that had two or three pokes had the illness at least twice by Feb 2022. It's insane. Now they keep getting it. Many have had it again twice this year! Sadly, after a drink or two at the bar, many open up about insane health problems. I've heard so many sad stories about bazaar illnesses. One a 25 year old wakes up everyday with her body feeling as if it's bruised. That's just a mild health issue compared to the ones that have much worse health issues. Not a single doctor has been able to help her. On top of all this, I spoke to about 12 different doctors on my flights over the year of 2021-2022 and gave them the name of a pharmacy to get the Nobel prize winning drug for "horses". It's so sad because most of the people I spoke to didn't want the poison. If everyone just didn't get the poison like me, well, maybe they would have saved these children who are being subjected to this hell.

Yet I’m hearing of some going to work symptomatic , like they would do before Covid, I guess because they are no longer scared of Covid, or maybe some might do it to avoid testing. My challenge to the safety official was asking “so if I have a cold/flu I stay home until a couple days without fever or vomiting etc, and if I had Covid, same thing. So if I’m staying home when if feel sick and go back to work when I feel better, then why the test?” I couldn’t get her to come around to the logical conclusion. About a year ago my family (me, my wife and young daughter) had some type of flu go through our house. It was pretty mild. Maybe a fever for a day, some congestion and a cough for a few days after. My mom requested that we take covid tests before she would be around us afterward. She had some take home tests she had bought and hadn't used so she dropped them off. I was like "ok, whatever, I've never taken a covid test, might as well do one". Wife and I both tested negative. So I called my mom to tell her we were negative, but those tests aren't reliable so maybe it was covid, maybe it wasn't. She agreed. So I was left wondering WTF was the point of the test then? She came to visit that evening and wore a mask the whole time. I love my mother to death, but my god.....I don't have the heart to explain to her how illogical the whole thing was. Offit blamed the autoimmune responses on using the spike protein, but I’m thinking that using ANY foreign protein would trigger the same responses. The ribosomal frame shifting is just another issue that’s pretty terrifying. Lol.. 😂 nice. So coughing everywhere around people and sniffling constantly is ok as long as it’s not “the ick”. Still gross, and colds are highly contagious. I’m pregnant, and trying my best to avoid getting any kind of sickness because my immune system is already compromised. I don’t understand people who are sick just going out and about to different stores when they have a choice, and could have something delivered or someone else go get it for them.

I think what you do is important and I am always interested to see your thoughts. I understand your target audience is advice and policy for the general public. What is tricky for me is that I am in my thirties with leukemia on a clinical trial so trying to navigate all this is difficult. It probably would take too much time to address it but I wonder how you approach many of the subjects you tackle with your own hem-onc patients. Maybe some patients say they watch your content but aren’t sure what to do in their case. Best, Matt

Given your condition, whether you get covid, flu or RSV, all of those are a huge risk to you. I hope he can give guidance, I doubt he can give you specific advice, but I would think you would want anyone with any respiratory infection to stay as far away from you as possible and not care if they've had a test saying it is or isn't covid. My uncle with stage 4 lymphoma lost the battle just 2 weeks ago to pneumonia after getting RSV and then getting hospitalized. My hopes and prayers are with you. Hope this comment pumps yours towards the top so he sees it.

Hey Matt, am curious, have you gotten any of the covid vaccines? I'm a bit older (56) and undergoing treatment for leukemia as well. My hemotologist has been pushing for me to get the vaccine (had covid in jan of '22). You're exactly correct in that this material is difficult to navigate. Also, what trial are you in? Thanks, Bruce

@b.k.buchholtz3705 yeah I've basically had em all since I couldn't get an immune response to the first 3. I do whatever my trial doctor asks. I did get acute pericarditis after the first two pfizer shots but the rest have been fine. I telework and haven't had it yet. I caught the flu two weeks after starting my trial which sucked. If I was a normal dude I wouldn't bother. But if I caught it and ended up hospitalized and had to stop my trial drugs I'd feel guilty for messing up the trial and not getting the therapeutic effect. I have SLL. I am taking btki and bcl2 inhibitors on trial.

Actually my sister and brother in law flew to visit our dad prior to Thanksgiving. My brother in law started feeling a scratchy throat the morning of their flight. By time they got to our dad's house he started with other symptoms. He tested positive when reaching our dad's house and "quarantined" in the bedroom. This was on a Saturday and by Monday when they were due to fly back home my sister started with symptoms. She tested positive on the way to the airport! They left our 92 year old dad by himself; knowing if he came down with COVID his caregiver wouldn't be able to come back for 10 days! He came down with COVID 2 days later; had a fall in the night and ended up in the hospital. He fought for his life for 6 weeks and ended up passing away in Hospice care. 😢 Prior to this he was living on his own with a caregiver coming in for 11 hours a week. He was also still driving.

I know someone who lives in a group home, and have gotten to know the staff there. They still have to routinely test for covid regardless of any indication that they might be sick. At least one of the staff has been off work after testing positive recently. This person feels fine and has no symptoms, but isn't allowed to work for however many days + two negative tests in a row. I don't know if that staff member is getting some kind of unemployment compensation, since the Federal UIA-PUA ended early last year. But still, it's either decreased income with UIA or it's zero income, and it's Christmas time. So the grandkids can't see the grandparents, and the grandparents have to tighten their belts to get through the season. All because of a stupid, illogical work policy. The staff are concerned about the residents, so they don't complain, because they think it's protecting the residents. Yet every resident has had covid at least once without complications, and they're all injected with mRNA.

His rationale is undeniable. The critical appraisal of clinical research is a mandatory skill for any professional dictating public health policy. The fact that the US is an international outlier in Covid policy tells us all we need to know about the quality of those now in charge. Social media attention is not a suitable selection criterion for public health leadership. We need scientists,not politicians, to lead our public health efforts. That is the primary lesson learned from the US public health leadership debacle. If Biden had any brains he would have Vinay as his chief advisor!

This boils down to the work culture in America. We are raised to push through and keep working even when we're sick because we don't get paid if we don't work. Many companies in the US lack sick days or paid time off. Without a definitive reason to stay home, you will risk your job not coming to work. Then who is going to support you or your family here in the U.S.? We do not have a social system that supports this type of mentality.

One of my FAVORITE DOCS EVER! Thank you for this! As a Lupus/MS/RA/SMS/SRSD and many other AI disorders and multiple time cancer warrior… my kiddos and I just went through Covid and flu. (No jabs per multiple docs request.) They wanted to give me Pax…but that made zero sense to me! It’s outrageous and honestly…flu hit us all a lot harder than Covid did this round. Naturally I took longer to recover because I’m a Mom and my immune system hates me lol! But I was able to care for them and get better thankfully. Also many tests are coming up positive even if they aren’t; as well as still showing positive for weeks! It’s crazy! They test me anytime I go to the center for infusions. But I couldn’t agree with you more. Also no data! Why?!?! If they are going to do the tests…do something with that data that’s positive (and anonymous) and figure out how it could be detected earlier, if it’s a false positive or negative and down time. Craziness! Thanks Doc! You’re one in a billion! 💜🙏💜

Flu may be more dangerous now in older populations. But constant testing will give the impression that COVID is more dangerous - positive tests are followed for events.

When I say the following it surprises people: No two people ever see the same rainbow. Once you understand the process you may get around to realising what you have just said has no meaning. The only reason to get a “COVID” “test” is to keep a fictional news story alive. If no one had ever mentioned the existence of a thing called “COVID” then “COVID” would never have existed, in their minds, or in the real world, and no one would have suffered from the crazy government policies. And the even crazier ongoing policies that rely on the changes to society that people’s belief in “COVID” has enabled. For the record, I did not wear masks did not have any jabs and have not had any sort of cold or flu for five years. I took one “test”, reluctantly (and not through my nose), and only because the hospital would have continued to treat me on the street for an injury if I had not. The test was negative, but the result was never going to have any effect on my health unless someone else had a bad (psychological) reaction to the result.

I will say from a personal standpoint that I gave COVID to my mother and aunt in Sept 2022. Their PCP prescribed them Paxlovid immediately. They were symptomatic almost immediately. Within taking Paxlovid they were asymptomatic with 24 hours. They were both vaccinated over a year ago prior, so the immunity wore off. My mom and aunt are in the high risk category, so I am glad they took Paxlovid. And if they get it again (COVID), I hope they are prescribed it again. But I will let their doctor of course make the final call. Good talk and viewpoints here Dr. Prasad. Big supporter and follower of you channel. Thanks.

I appreciate the solution at the end (advocating paid time off). The only reason my family is testing anymore is because we’re required to stay home if we’re positive for COVID-19 but required (or pressured) to come to work if it’s anything else. On the other hand, it’s my understanding that RSV and flu (and maybe all the COVID strains) have worse outcomes for certain populations so it would be nice to have a broad range multi-test that could determine exactly what you have so you can make focused protection plans (I.e. avoiding children if you have RSV or whooping cough).

My job had a different sick reimbursement for COVID illness so it made sense to us to test. Of course I barely got sick with it in September after working with covid patients all during the pandemic. It wasn’t as bad as influenza I have had.
@liz9284
@liz9284 10 ай бұрын
Having a different reimbursement for Covid is what doesn’t make sense, it only incentivizes ppl to test more frequently, which racks up more positive test results (many of them false positives) which perpetuates the whole machine. I was much worse off with the flu, just as you said, so I can’t understand why employers would reimburse differently for Covid. Testing positive for Covid doesn’t mean you’re sicker than someone with a sinus infection, so none of that makes sense to me. Idk, I think corporations and everyone else just lost their minds, LOL
