Today I replaced some gaskets that were causing my Golf to leak oil as well as doing an oil change. In the process I discovered a fair bit more about the car and some future work that is going to need to be addressed...

Hey Jack, good and informative video. I would have a question about the sump gasket, did you put any RTV on the spots where the timing chain cover meets to block? Or just simply installed the new gasket without any sealant? I'm about to replace my sump sealant in my next oilchange and would like to know. Thank you.

My German made oil filter when i installed it into the filter housing , i pushed the oil filter all the way through BUT mine didn’t snap in , mine is all the way through but loose it seems , i have a MK4 golf gti VR6 2001 .
