The VR6 turbo project was stalled. But now it's time to get back to the MK3. I have oil leaks to fix, coolant leaks to fix, charge cooler piping to fix, a clutch to fix, a transmission to fix, some more parts to install, brakes to upgrade and probably a whole lot more. MK3 LIFE!!

Going through some of these videos on the gti to get some inspiration for my mulberry 95 gti golf vr6 with Jetta front end swap. When you do end up doing the swap if you could get a video on it it would be awesome I feel like mine was a hack job by the previous owners of the car and nothing likes to go back together when I have the front end tore apart. Finally getting a coolant leak fixed and then fixing a LOT of rust issues on it from terrible previous owners. Always looking forward to new videos and I’m also thinking about turbo charging my vr6 as well probably next year when I get the funds around for it to happen. Too many projects and this one got put on the back burner so now I’m pretty excited to get it finished up and driving before winter. Thanks for all the great content! It makes it easier to look stuff up and plan out what I want to do with my gti

I friend of mine had a turbo'd VR6 in a Corrado years ago. Scared the crap out of him. He spent like 8k on the engine 20 years ago. I imagine the tech for such upgrades has improved a lot in that time. Now if I could only find some inexpensive engine upgrades to my 2.5 beetle...

Glad your going back on the gen 3 golf/Jetta combo. Always have liked the aaa engine. Seems like those engines are one of the best built for the vr6"s. I also thought that design was the best looking for all the generations. I could be wrong on some information. Just an idea (maybe it won't work), how bout aaa block, 24v vr6 head and intake with or without turbo? Just trying to be creative, maybe pulling out of my ass, but ya know I was thinking about it when you started this project saying you were using the 99 vr6 head gasket. Glad you and your family are safe.

My brother passed away last year and left me his projects, one of which was his AAA VR6 from his 98 Jetta and when he pulled it found out one of the cylinders is scratched. The plan was to send it to get bored out and then sleeved then boost it and swap it into a Mk1 Caddy we have. You guys think its possible? (Obviously when i have the money)

I have a 2000 Vr6 Gti that I’ve owned for 2 years, done the clutch, timing chains, crack pipe and countless other things for that Wookie sound, the car randomly dies or acts weird because of a short in my “drive by wire” there is no way to buy one online and not sure what to do as the car is practically totaled without it. Do you think I should just take a dump in the back of the car and try and sell it?

You can make a fun streetable car with a manual or a time attack/strip beast with a DSG, just leave out the Haldex and split the tourqe 35/65 rear, but G60 may not be enough for strip runs.

Even the kits from the high end companies for high end cars are crap. Honestly if you can get a good manifold with good fitment and the turbo is in a good spot with a good drain location grab it. Its better to make your own charge tubes and find a good intercooler, the kits never fit right and rub and not supported correctly. This is no to mention how much you will have to modify the car to fit them too. They rub holes and the couplers blow off on a lot of them. Its really not that bad to make your own kit just have to keep in mind where things are going rub and get hot. The turbo oil feed needs to be correct for the turbo your running ie line size and if a restrictor is required, also the drain is very often overlooked. The drain needs to be full size of the exit port on the turbo with as soft of bends as possible and dump in to the crank case into AIR not below the oil level. Even oem setups will often have oil leaking on the inlet side because their drains are not correct. The rest is hooking the turbo to the exhaust system and if you need to plum your wastegate into the exhaust as well. There are a few more parts needed fueling blowoff vale etc really when yo go down this road its better to learn it all for your self and do it right and if you mess up learn. Also when something breaks you will know whats going on and not have to worry about taking it to a shop.
