VRChat SDK Unity 2022 Update - How To Migrate!

After some time since the client was updated to Unity 2022, the VRChat SDK has now also been upgraded! This video will show you how to migrate your projects to the new Unity version using either the Creator Companion or Unity Hub.

TO ANYONE STRUGGLING WITH MISSING CONTROLLERS AND BICYCLE POSING when you migrate your project, often there will be a prefab showing up of your model. do not drag it into the scene. instead go through your assets folder within unity and fine the SCENE you originally imported in your prior version of unity, usually this is the default scene that came with the model you are using. (Indicated in the assets by a unity logo. and drag that in your hierarchy. from there it should have everything. prefab's do not have runtime controllers or FX layers setup, its just a blank canvas of your model. i noticed when migrating it plops a prefab into your assets folder for some reason, and a few people ive seen with issues had been dragging that into their hierarchy instead of looking for the scene

i had a problem when switching, my avatar was slightly distorted kinda wobby looking, but i found the solution go to your avatar's FBX import setting (simply click your fbx model) and in the inspector go to model and disable Mesh compression

hi comments I'm trying to get this webshooter asset and it requires the creator companion and for that I need the 2022 unity version so I have to wait like 10 min to back up my 4 projects so hopefully it works soon I wish you all good luck!

Thank you! I do have a question, if I use the migrate feature, which creates a new project, Can I get that project to Publish to it's existing place on VRChat? I fear it will not and I write this after having already migrated it. :O

hey do you have a video for if I wanted an object like a chair or a little house that doesn't walk around with your avatar and just stays where you toggle it on in the world? I'm a quest user so it would be good if it can be on quest

New player question, just hit the rank to allow me to do this. The avatar I purchased specifically said it may not work with the new version. And sure enough trying to open it in the current version just launches Unity Hub and does not fire up Unity itself. It opens and imports fine on the version it wants, but it cannot be built and uploaded. When migrating it gets errors, and trying to autofix launches me to the browser download archive for Unity versions, which I have the most up to date. What am I doing wrong?

Can someone help me? Whenever I migrate to 2022 my shaders break once uploaded. In VR my avatar is doing the shader error where the avatar shows double and renders in different places on different eyes. No one knows how to fix this issue and its so frustrating

Useless. I feel like Unity is a piece of trash, as well CC. It did not update automatically, I tried to update manually. Then every migration failed, logs did not help. I feel like it's easier to remake every project from scratch or not to upgrade at all.

upgrade? more like a fucking downgrade. sure the shaders will be able to do more but 2022 is a horrible unity version. the editor performance is shit, they removed "boo" support, and they bugged up my animations so they dont show across the network!
