I do think you are correct... Darth Bane was incredibly skiled. I mean when he was a miner he was capable of foreseeing the cards being played...before being trained in the force. I think with foreseeing the event and utilizing his force power he would match Malgus at first in apperences then utterly crush him. Darth Malgus is not by any means a weakling we can agree, but force powers do hold thier weight over combat...as seen with yoda and the emporer, just my thoughts

Having learned more about the characters and their feats as combatants I think Malgus would be the more likely victor at least in terms of lightsaber dueling. Yes, both combatants have similar styles and match each other physically however Malgus has one overwhelmingly huge advantage over Bane: combat experience You can count the number of duels Darth Bane has been in one one hand however war was Malgus' life having fought and defeated multiple Jedi. Bane may have dedicated a lot of time to practice but it is one thing to study and another to apply it in practice. I'm not saying Bane can't I'm just saying Malgus is far better at it. His style may not be refined but it is battle tested and in that regard Bane is out classed by him. Bane's only real chance for victory lies in his force abilities and even that is not a guarantee against Malgus because again, Darth Malgus is a battle-hardened force combatant, easily mixing his lightsaber technique with his force abilities with instinctual ease. Not only that but his over all raw power in the force icreased drastically. At the end of the novel Deceived, Malgus became so powerful in the force that he was described as actually being the force, a center of calm in a storm of rage. I also feel the need to point out that Malgus does not have to worry about his suit giving out. It's not so much the entire suit but more the respirator mask he wears and while this is a weak point I highly doubt it would be a deciding factor since Malgus has had the respirator knocked aside and did not suffer greatly from it. At the end of the day, Malgus is the better martial artist and more viable combatant. The only question is whether or not he can contend with and overcome Bane's force abilities. I believe that he can.

i Agree with a lot of what you say, except for that Malgus would be the victor. Very true Malgus was battle tested, but he had fewer tools at his disposal. a fight between the two would be about more than just raw power. You do make a lot of good points though.

Remember, having more tools at one disposal does not always guarantee victory, especially if the adversary has an answer to every new tool you throw at him. A great example would be Count Dooku who only specialized in one style that was normally weak against blast deflection and multiple opponents and yet he was able to defeat capably egadge and defeat blaster-wielding and multiple opponents and opponents with more versatile styles.

savagenature1 While Malgus used some deception, he was too proud to use it in actual combat Jst the same bane knew far more force and light-saber techniques, he might not have been a master of all of the light-saber techniques, but the way a force sensitive fights with a light-saber imply that one would not need to master a saber technique to use it effectively. these two things would suggest that the style of attack Bane would use would probably not be his strongest style nor would it initially be offensive. Most of the battles Malgus has fought were against lightsaber users that used more common techniques, so his understanding of them through combat would give him an advantage if bane used any. Malgus in the returned trailer is shown to have fought against and is used to seeing duel bladed light-sabers and duel wield as well. Malgus demonstrates his knowledge in the deceived book Stating he knew what attack the Jedi master would use. Malgus is far from being weak, but his nature and honor would be his downfall.

Also, Malgus has used deception in actual combat, like when he baited in Ven Zallow by feigning injury. Malgus maybe honorable but he will use every tool in his arsenal to win the fight. Malgus' main weaknesses are: His lack of defense against physical attacks but that's hardly an issue because he can take it and dish out even more He sometimes struggles against speed oriented fighters but he has always been able to adapt and Bane is more of a strength fighter which Malgus can match. And He sometimes suffers from tunnel vision. So far I'm not seeing much here than Bane can throw at him and Malgus can't deal with.

Bane has a superior amount of skill to malgus and matches his strength exceeds his agility and speed also has by far superior unpredictability. Evidence of this is in the end of the audio book dynasty of evil bane is described as moving as fast as a blur and to be wielding multiple lightsabers at once and is noted for his unpredictability all of this is no doubt a result of his mastery of juyo.

Seems to me the trooper at 7:00 from the SWTOR cinematic may have some slight force sensitivity, that allows him to use the Force in situations of extreme stress or the like. That would explain why it looks like he might be resisting the lightning.

Something I feel you should add to your notes about Darth Bane: In the third of the Darth Bane books, page 6 of Dynasty of Evil, Bane was seen practicing Soresu as part of his standard daily exercises (not doing anything terribly new, just keeping in practice). It began to rain, so Bane chose to use the rain as a test. He was capable of becoming aware of every drop of rain in what the book describes as a howling tempest, and resolved to not let a single drop touch his skin. After ten minutes, the rain abated, and Bane was successful. So, add to your notes that Darth Bane's skill with Soresu was sufficient to block *every* drop of rain in a massive storm for ten minutes straight.

I don't think Malgus stood a chance just going off of Skill/Power/Tactics. Bane 8/7/8 Malgus 6/7/5 for skill it was like mentioned in the video, except i would call Malgus a Warrior and Bane a Scholar. Where Malgus would rather hone his skills in battle alone, Bane would study force and lightsaber techniques. For power, neither were exceptionally impressive in their displays of raw power(i.e. Palpatines Force storm, Nihilus's Force drain, Vitiates Overwhelming mind domination, Sion's refusal to die), but they were above the average Sith. For tactics, Bane was a firm believer in a Siths main weapon being deception, Malgus would use deception only so far as to keep his actions secret, otherwise he would be pretty straight forward.

Actually if you have read the book on Bane he is rather weak and overrated. Just look at the feats. Bane is fodder Malgus takes this 10/10. Bane defeated featless jedi in an era that was filled with weak force users. Malgus on the other hand has beaten countless Jedi and some with feats of their own. You have to admit that man. As much as Bane is a cool character he is weak.

I think you under played Malgus abilities quite a bit. He wasn't a dedicated form 5 user. He was well trained in forms 1.3,5 and seven just like all sith warriors of his day. He fought more with a hybrid style alot like Vader. Force wise he had far more combative applications than Bane. Bane though powerful was a slave to his form and abilities. Other than time consuming rituals when did you ever see bane use anything but lightning and telekinesis? Bane may have had great knowledge of the force but never put any of it to practice. Malgus on the other hand had hundreds if not thousands of light saber duels. Bane had what 4 serious duels in his life. Malgus has a huge experience advantage fighting force users. I think Malgus would be to much for Bane.

Great video! But I just have to get this off my chest. If it weren't for those obelisks, that battle would have been over very quickly for him and his apprentice. At the start of the fight Raskta Lsu immediately landed a thrusting attack to his chest with her lightsabers. And continuously hit him throughout the entire duel. It might just be carelessness due to the fact he knew he was invincible lol, but it speaks for itself. Zannah would have shortly lost thereafter.

Just a slight correction on Banes bio, he actually didnt join the Brotherhood of Darkness until after he was discovered to be force sensitive, before that he was a Seargent in the sith army, minor detail I know lol. Also as far as Banes hand to hand combat training goes, I believe he was taught some basic fighting during his time in military but I think thats about it. "Bane made pain his b*tch" HAHAHA!!! Well said man, well said. Overall, I'd say you pretty much nailed this one, Bane wouldnt win easily but theres no way Malgus would be a match for him.

I agree with the outcome but by a greater margin than you mentioned. It was said that Darth Bane's proficiency in Soresu, the third lightsaber form, was so proficient, he could stand in the rain deflecting torrents of rain drops without getting wet. In terms of lightsaber prowess, Malgus doesn't come close.

Remember that Bane was a miner on apatros and that he defeated a friend of his father's (another miner) in an extreme hand to hand confrontation after working for several hours at the start of the first novel. He was a monster of a man with physical strength that I'm sure was equal to Malgus's.

I think people give Bane too much credit as a duelist. I thought he was some amazing dark-side version of Kyle Katarn, but after reading PoD all he did was beat up other students at Sith Hogwarts. Inferior Students who weren't even on par with the Sith of older eras. He also had a very simplistic mentality as a duelist imo which stemmed from his intellectualism as a Sith Lord. He thought of dueling like some sort of math-problem where he could solve it by virtue of "finding a right answer." save unless he had an ulterior motive, like wanting to humiliate. In reality however that kind of mentality bespeaks of inexperience, ask any real fencer. He beat those three jedi, but he also had zannah and the armour to help. And Force abilities factored in. It was a feat of dueling to a degree, but more of a feat of his overall power as a force-user which was tempered by his special advantages. Overall I think you undersold Malgus' edge as a Duelist. He is more practical, more experienced, has been doing it longer, has more feats, and a better record. He was also probably trained in Soresu and Juyo just as Bane was because those are the 3 main styles Sith have almost always been taught as I'm sure you well know and I think Malgus' forms were confirmed to have them but not sure. I think Bane certainly does outclass Malgus as a force user, a lot in variety, and by a good margin in magnitude, but considering what Malgus has survived, and warded off... His defensive applications of force powers would not be so easily broken through by Bane, and he could certainly tank a good amount of what did get through, so this fight would be a lot closer I think. JMO.

He can be beat but it is VERY hard to do. The only times he was shown to have been beaten were his first fight against Sirak (when he was still in training, his fight with The Huntress (who had a tough time against him even though she had an entire team to ambush him and wear him down), and his final fight against Zannah (and she was barely able to beat him, he only lost when he failed to overpower her will when he tried the essence transfer to take her body as his own). Every time he was beaten after his first duel with Sirak his opponents had a very tough time fighting him

First off, i agree with the outcome of this battle. Although the part about their lightsaber abilities isn't entirely correct in my opinion. As can be read in the novels by Drew Karpyshyn (ore however you spell that) he is being trained by a sith teacher on korriban in the academy to switch between diffrent styles to gain an upperhand over his opponent. Which means he was profficient in many lightsaber forms and he could switch between them as fast as after each strike. He also got the curved lightsaber from that same teacher as a gift! Also this is not meant as bashing on your video, just sharing my thoughts! Love the video's keep it up!!

I tend to disagree, as you from all the comments I post on your videos I tend to fan girl a little of Malgus. But Vaders strength in his forms was beaten by Luke on Lukes third duel ever, also Luke lacked training in the dark side anyway. The power in one strike from Malgus is unmatched throughout the Sith and Jedi. And neither of them would be able to execute force powers really except Malgus could possibly destroy Vader with his lightning. Also not only is he overmatched in physical strength but Malgus has a higher agility as well. Malgus matches Vader on every level and where he doesn't match Vader, he surpasses him.

Antoine Bandele Bane would beat Malgus normally... If Bane had the Orbalisk infestation attached to him, he'd vapourise Malgus. They'd both destroy everything in sight during the fight and it'd be an intense one. Malgus is a bad ass and a decent general, but Darth Bane is just primal in his power AND intellect, while always having a touch of destiny about him. Nice break down, I enjoyed this one and actually agreed with the outcome (as evident from my comments).

The Shredder I could back mine up too on the Bane Vs Malgus fight. The Old Republic books that cover both of them are really entertaining, but Bane has it down. But strongest Sith Lord? Nah, that would be Lord Vitiate - THE Sith Emperor. He lasted over a thousand year even before bothering to transfer to different hosts, he ate the life Force of entire planets, no life left, no colour, no sound not even bacteria. Revan was a serious contender for being top-dog but couldn't even be in the same room as Vitiate because he was so intensely powerful. All the others together as one couldn't touch Lord Vitiate.

The physical should have gone to bane beacouse the creatures he wore gave him more dexterity then 30 men thats not even including the force power or training it also gave him super human strength the only thing that managed to get past his armor was his own force lighting which was the most powerful in his time. I agree, in any duel w/ involving Bane, you need to stipulate whether the obelisk armor is in play, as it greatly effects both his physical and force abilities. It is my feeling that without this armor, the battle of Tython would ended much differently, greatly altering, if not outright ending Bane's life.

Again, agree with the verdict. I suspected from the begining, that the desicive factor will be the forcepower. Malgus is strong, very strong in the force, but Bane is one of the strogest, through his studies. But i disagree with calling Malgus student in terms of force, as he showed some masterful feats (force maelstrom). But you corrected your self in other video, so never mind :-)

Now, as far as Darth Bane's ability to ward off poisons, there were two separate occasions, where he nearly lost his life. The time he was poisoned by Lord Githany, he was only saved by a healer on the planet he was on. He was able to slow the effects, but he was unable to stop the poison, once it went to far into his circulatory system. The other time, he was completely unaware that he was poisoned. Technically, it was more a tranquilizer, but even the book noted that if he knew that the substance was in his system, he would have used the force to get rid of it. Still, he didn't and he was captured nonetheless. As far as his sith powers, I would have to say his power may have been strong, but it was mostly direct, and a fair number of opponents he came across, were able to push back his attacks. But he was pretty impressive in the books. He had the one motivation in his time that many sith in his time didn't; to be consumed by the dark side. He only cared about power, and was not concerned about the possible repercussions. Darth Revan's holocron, told him he had to acquire power, no matter the costs. The only way to go is forward. I would have to say Darth Bane's personality, was what made him powerful. I don't know much on Darth Malgus, but Darth Bane wasn't afraid of falling to the darkside, unlike his former pupils, as well as his former teachers. But then again, it is just fantasy.

Darth ban is a high level duelist and could defeat malgus, he would win becouse he has knowledge of all of the lightsaber forms. and darth ban has held out against 3 of the best duelist of his time. and you didn't mention the force drain that killed everyone that stept inside the field.

I might like to point out. Those in the rule of two are more in tuned with the force than those in a consortium. The reason the other Sith lords have so many overpowered feats is because they were written by other writers which essentially broke off from the basic principles of the Force that I think Lucas thought at first. Force users shouldn't be overpowered. They're abilities should all be well within a well defined set of limits. I believe this to be true.

Yes Malgus probably had some affiliation with Jar'Kai but he was no master of it. Plus, I do not think Jar'Kai would outdo Bane, as he was familiar with something even more unorthodox: the lightsaber whip. He used to spar with Githany and I think if you can fight against a whip you can handle yourself against Jar'Kai.

NightWolfXVI Having knowledge in more lightsaber forms does not equate to being a better overall duelist. They were very close in terms of lightsaber combat, though I gave the edge to Bane because I felt his mastery of Djem So and proficiency in Soresu outweighed Malgus' proficiencies. And the fact that Bane's force powers, in my opinion, highly outweighed Malgus' gave him the decided edge.

Antoine Bandele I respectfully disagree. As demonstrated in Bane's duel with Kas'im he was utterly unprepared for Kas'im's Jar'Kai assault, and completely overwhelmed. Though I doubt Malgus was anywhere near Kas'im's equal in skill with the form, so I would agree with your result. Also, as a note, in Bane's final duel with Zannah, he demonstrated elements of Juyo in his style, with his opening flurry, which actually caught Zannah off-guard, despite how well she had prepared to fend off his Form V Djem-So, implying that Bane may have employed an alternate form.

First of all great review man. Now lets begin,but before all I must say that if you ask me Bane would most likely own Malgus with only maybe few troubles and here is why. 1) Bane was exploring throughout Sith history and their teachings much more than Malgus did,as you stated there was not a single known Dark Side Force power that Bane didn't know of.How to use it and how to defend against it.He even looked for Revans holocron which helped him become even more powerful and with which he established the Rule Of Two.Malgus on the other hand was taught in the ways of the Sith since his early childhood,but was never interested in the force itself.He lived in the time in which a great war occurred so he might be a little better WAR strategist than Bane,I'll give him that. So in their force usage Bane is (at least how I see it) clear winner. 2)Malgus was trained in the lightsaber combat since the early age,while Bane got his first when he was about 23/24 years old,this would probably make Malgus much more experienced with the Lightsaber,but here's the thing.Both Bane and Malgus used aggressive stances and forms of lightsaber combat,but on top of that Bane used Curved Hilt Lightsaber,which is much more appropriate for fighting and was used only by the greatest swordmasters in the entire history. Again Bane wins (this time Just by a little bit) To Conclude Darth Bane is more powerful than Darth Malgus both in the Force usage and in Lightsaber combat. P.S. I was not exploring and explaining everything like what form of lightsaber combat did they use,which force power is which,their Masters(who taught them the ways of the Sith and the Dark Side) etc,etc.

You forget that bane also fought in the New Sith War as a foot soldier in the Gloom Walker division (and a very respected one at that) before being trained as a sith so he does have military experience as well

This battle was obviously going to Bane for his extensive knowledge of the force. Bane often said that the order was weakened every time a group of apprentices overthrew a single master, thus you would think Malgus to be more powerful. But Bane was able to recognize this relationship because he was the only one powerful enough to end it, giving Bane the favor. Overall, it makes sense how Bane would win.
