Really like the Versus idea! You could even compare games from the same designer (like Caverna vs Agricola), game themes (Terraforming Mars, Martians: A Story of Civilization, and First Martians: Adventures on the Red Planet), mechanisms or ideas (like today's vid), etc. And they could be recent/upcoming titles, or even a retrospective on older games. Nice work, guys.

Exit has an app too, btw. It's not mandatory, but it does enhance the experience a bit.

Thanks for this! Your comments on the games were very helpful-- especially about the difficulty. My husband and I played Exit:Secret Lab a couple weekends ago (finished in 2 hours with no hints). I definitely agree that 2 players is a sweet spot because the puzzles are linear and have to be completed in a specific order, and the booklet, special items, and cards are small, making it tough for several people to see everything at once.

Great vid, found it very informative regarding 2 similar games. Would definitely enjoy seeing more of this VS type of format.

Hey Guys, I wanted to give you a little feedback on my experience for this video, especially since it's a new format for you. This will just be my experience, hopefully more people can chime in on this subject as well. I like the idea of the "VS" though, I feel it could executed a little clearer. I personally had a hard time following which game you were talking about, as you flip flopped between them quite regularly. I know you always said "In Unlock" or "In Exit" before switching, however I found myself distracted with continues flow of imagery, and trying to figure out which game the imagery was for. I think I might have missed some transition moments and thought you were speaking on one game, when you were talking about the other. A few possibilities I thought of: 1. Speak solely on one game for the first several minutes, breaking down pros/cons, then switch to the second game, followed by a VS afterward that compares the two. This would provide a solid "Which game is which" before jumping back and forth. 2. Alternatively, you could have the game title/logo up on the screen in BOLD when you are talking about that game. I thought you might have been doing that at some point, but then realized that it was a stock image of the game that happened to have the name of the game on it. Hopefully you find this helpful, keep up the good work Cheers Jake

Great timing on the video guys, and that new format is really interesting when/if new games with similar appeal come out in the same timeframe

Looking forward to more Versus format videos in the future really enjoyed how you guys compared them on all the same metrics, really made it clear to me which one I'd prefer. Keep up the fantastic work!

Exit did feel more enjoyable than unlock. But I liked both. We just photo copied the couple cards it said to cut up and cut the photo copies. Then after I was done with the game I gave it to a friend which got them into the escape room games.

I really like the idea of comparative reviews! Maybe putting up a side by side comparison of bullet points would be helpful for viewers. As always, lots of good information!

If you played the Unlock version 3 times and the Exit version once you can end up being unfair and bias. Perhaps you should have played exit 3 times before artempting the video. 😺

I've played 2 Exit's and liked them so much I purchased all the available ones. Just finished Unlock! The House on The Hill and did not like it at all.

Thanks for comparing the games. Now it only needed to compare the Spin Master Games - Escape Room The Game and Escape the Room.

thanks for this comparison! I played Exit and was wondering if Unlock was a match for it

I think Unlock! is just as good. Different experience, more approachable for a wider audience and visually great. Honestly both series are good and a great value for the price. A movie and snacks is just as expensive for ONE person than this.

No, absolutely not! Exit by far the best

Sorry if I missed it, but did you guys say which one specifically you played for Exit? By the pictures I'm assuming Abandoned Cabin?

As you were talking about each I was thinking that I'd prefer the complex puzzles of Exit, but Unlock would work better for light gamers... doesn't help me decide because I have a friend who'd I could absolutely play Exit with, but also have some friends who I think Unlock would work better with. *sigh* choices

Ha! Sharlene you're first on here! I was intending on getting EXIT for our group, but were you thinking of others you might like to try it with? I was planning on doing Unlock! with the kids as we have gone through the tutorials of that already and I think they can handle it.

I like the approach. I also greatly appreciate the commentary for couples. We're always looking for something that works well in that way. One thing. By the end I was a little confused about which game had what. A graphic summary might have helped.

This is a really good video. Thank you. I have been eyeing both of these games for a long time since I'm big into escape room video games. It seems like unlock is the one I will be after although I have an issue with spending money on games that have very little replay value.

I have played both. I prefer unlock more than exit. Exit seemed really easy about 98% of the time. Then that 2% of the time the hints were horrible. Unlock Has a fantastic feature with their app and there hints were way more helpful. I just thought exit was easier while unlock seemed like it was harder. But it may have just been the games I chose as well.

I have enjoyed playing all of the Exit and Unlock escape games. The one criticism I have is that I feel that all of the puzzles need to logically add to the story. I don't want to solve a crossword puzzle to get out of a pyramid. To solve this we created a fully illustrated comic book where you are the leader of a superhero group of escape artist. The puzzles make logical sense and add to the story like a song would in a well performed musical. If you want some of our puzzles for free just reply to this post. We have more information at www.escapeteam.org. :)

Great comparison! Thanks you Jeremy and David! I love the "VS" format. I personally love this kind of games. My personal favorites escape room game so far are: 1. Exit 2. Unlock! 3. Escape Room: The Game Next on the list to try for me is Deckscape... I made a geeklist on bgg where I keep track of all of the "escape room style" games for who is interested (boardgamegeek.com/geeklist/224641/escape-room-boardgames)

Would you say Exit has puzzles that are language dependant? What I mean by that is puzzles that rely on word play or accronyms. I'm trying to figure out if I should wait for a possible translation or buy the English version, and the BGG threads are ghost town right now...
@br0adsw0rd655 жыл бұрын
Exit can be very language dependant

If you're going to do a "vs" video, don't spend all your time doing a review video of only one of the games, cause you didn't play enough of the other one. Needs structure

I felt that Exit's clues were unhelpful as the first one was basically something you had already been given so it was a waste of a clue use. By the time you had decided to use your second clue most of the time you had figured out the basic information given in the second clue so it also was not helpful. In the game we played with the periodic table there was an error about an element. I wasn't very impressed with it's mechanisms unfortunately because I love puzzle/clue games.
