The format reminds me a lot of the old TV show "Connections" with James Burke. They would start each show with something like "What does tea have to do with the Saturn V rocket?" And then they would go on this epic romp through history tracing the..."connections" ;) ...between different events and discoveries that led up to an iconic moment in present time. It was a great show. They even made a followup series titled "Connections 2" and then "Connections 3" (with the numbers in the power of position, like, Connections squared and cubed) in the late 90s. I really enjoyed the program in all of its forms. :)

Actually not entirely true. All the photos taken may pale in insignificance, but when the archaeologists "dig up" our collective of photos then they will learn a lot. Someone may be wrong to take a photo of themselves in a bathroom, but two people who do the same thing are more right; it's a document of something which happens today but might not in the future, a loose map if you will. Also, software has been developed (and is getting better) which can piece together 3d maps of still photographs. Without knowing it, people-kind is archiving the space we live in. So the sum of the parts, or the synergy, is greater than one part. That's pretty awesome IMHO.

That's one of the reasons why I like astrophotography. Astrophotography isn't that much complicated but it takes a lot of time, equipment and experience. Getting started with an astrophoto is very difficult though. Furthermore, after the hours-long photo, it takes even more hours to process that image, even if it's done digitally it is a long process completely different from the classic "Brightness, contrast ecc." thing. Once you've done it, the photo won't be the best but you'll be proud of your work and your results. Thank you for your time

Since we have only been taking photos for around 150 years, and this video was published in November, that would make 2012 a remarkably slow year for photography. Maybe you meant 4 billion just this week?

So the total number of photos taken between January and November 2012 should be far more than the stated 4 billion.
