It’s cold, but there are clearly lots of deciduous trees in the video. There will be a melt by Spring, if the parasite (or its lifecycle’s eggs or whatever) can survive the season. And carrion scavengers of some sort seem pretty likely, even in winter (crows, wolves, coyotes, feral dogs, if in North America.)

Tom Hogan That's also possible. I've got a pretty farfetched theory, but hear me out: How does he know the parasite can't survive in the cold? What if the parasite wants him to go there and die so it can eat him and reproduce? I'm not sure what the rescue team is and how much control the parasite has. Jake might want to shelter himself from civilization so that the virus can't spread or the virus wants us as it's new host. Jake doesn't seem very good and when the parasite has taken us over it will call the rescue team, if they aren't already involved and infected and are trying to infect the last of us, and then return to civilization and infect everyone. We don't know how far the virus has spread and what it can do.
