This video shows a Step by Step installation of the 291r shocks for the VSETT 10+
I spoke extensively with one of the main techs for VSETT on getting the right spring rates for my weight. I was looking for a very smooth ride after back surgery. These spring rates were not only smoother but they performed much better than stock. No more jolting forward when releasing the throttle! This spring rate is good for riders 210lbs to 250lbs if you weigh more add more spring rate. If you weigh less take some away. Shock length and spring rate below.
front : 125mm
Rate : 1500lb
Rear : 165mm
Rate : 1800lb

Appreciate the great tutorial. Just got mine done. I have the newer, 1 piece kick plate and actually had to file a mm or 2 of the spacer itself to fit into the upper mount.

Just an fyi for those who have the newer version of the vsett10 you need nothing other then the 291 shocks. They’re swap out and swap in. Took me 10min for each wheel. Also a good idea to install the rebound adjuster on the bottom end. That way you can access the sag ring without taking the tire off. Another person found that if you install the shock with the rebound at the top - an air bubble can be felt

The Ausom Gallop are the exact the same frame design with minor variance, do you think, I can install the same shocks in them? if yes, how do I know what exact payload to get 1500lbs or 2000lbs and what dimensions should I look for, 125mm x 24, 135mm, 150mm or higher? It's so confusing because the manufacturers don't print the exact specs on these shocks for us to know what to replace/upgrade them with. Another question is, could you use the stock spacers with the new shocks or one has to order the aftermarket one like you did?

Just installed the EXA FORM 291R 125mmx24x24-1500lbs on the front of my VSETT 10+. No matter which stiffness setting I adjust to, the shock fully compresses on any bump, and any time I push my body weight down on the scooter. It feels like my brand new shock is busted. Any tips? Am I just missing something stupid?

If you tighten the shock collar sleeve the threaded part It was stiffen the ride. You will need a large pair of adjustable pliers and a rag or a piece of rubber so you don't scratch the shock when grabbing with the tool, it will make the shock more firm. It will look like it's used to raise the suspension height up which it will do, but it will also make the spring stiffer. If it gets too stiff back it off a little bit. That should fix things. The little red adjuster is just for rebound so that's going to slow down how fast the shock pogo sticks back up at you. So if you make it real stiff by tightening that sleeve then you want to add more rebound so it's not so springy feeling. Hope that helps. Let me know.

You should have took out the side bolts on the brakes so you didn't have to readjust them by taking them off the way you did

I have a vsett 10+ for about a week now, I had ordered the shocks based on lots of posts saying they were needed. So far I don't really have any issues with the stock suspension. I'm on the heavier end so I read that I should use 2000lb on both front and rear. Will it be an improvement still you think? If not I may just sell them and not bother. Thanks!

What kind of improvement did you notice after installing the upgraded shocks? I am also 235 lbs. would you still recommend 1500 lbs on the front and 1800 lbs on the rear?

Better safer handling at higher speeds, but also better ride quality. Yes on 1500lbs up front and 1800lbs rear. I know some charts say different but I found these numbers out from a guy who does warranty repairs for Vsett. I was right at 230-235lb that rate is good from like 210lbs to 250lbs. If your lighter it will be stiffer and if you weigh more the ride will be softer. These shocks are adjustable too so they can be tuned for weight. Just set them somewhere in the middle of the clicks and you can play with them from there.

I think 1250lb in the front and 1500lb rear would be good. Little bit stiffer then stock but better adjustable shocks for different riding styles.

I saw in another video the guy said to tighten the swingarm bold to 50 ft pounds. Is that correct? Since you said 30.

Hey I was just reading back on this. The swing arm bolt should be 30lbs with locktite but the wheel bolt can go 50lbs to 80lbs. So sorry for the misinformation. I read what you wrote the first time wrong.

Hi Daniel, in my case I bought 125mm/850lbs, I weight 68 kilos / 150 lbs. It did not work, the shock was almost completely compressed once I stood up on the scooter, despite being adjust to full stiffness (rebound and spring). I think you will have the same issue, being heavier than me. I solved it changing only the spring to 1500 lbs, and it work like a charm.
