Zero10x hydraulic shock install and demo

The Zero 10x rear stock rear suspension is spring only. No dampening. The problem is the bouncy, unstable feel when riding over bumps especially broken or un-even pavement while turning. I checked around for shocks and no one has them in stock except AliExpress.
In this video, I showed how I remove the stock rear shock and install the new EXA-291R shock that has a rebound and preload adjustment. I also did some test to verify the rebound adjustment actually works. The removal and installation was not difficult. The most difficult part was trying to split the suspension arm halves to get the rear shock out. It took maybe 1 hour worth of work. You will need metric socket hex and Allen keys.
I highly recommend this upgrade to anyone with a Zero 10x. The upgrade is well worth it. The ride is much smoother, confident inspiring and definitely more stable. Feels like a different, more refined scooter!

KS EXA-291R rear shock. 165mm eye to eye. 1500 Lb/inch spring rate.

you;d need to install new bushings correct size to the shock absorber, instead putting washers there, and btw red knob should be faced top - if it get dirty, would be bad :)

Yes thought about putting the red knob on the top side but there is another problem. When I had to shock spring removed, I can feel air-bubbles and a small gap of zero damping when I hold the shock with the red knob up while I compress and extend. It seem this shock is not nitrogen gas charged and has a small air bubbles mixed with the oil fluid. See video at 3:20 in.

OK, so i tried the exa shock yesterday on my Nanrobot D6 and i have to say that the ride was VERY stiff and harsh compared to the softer stock spring . Maybe the 1500 lbs compression rate is too high and a lower compression rate such as 650 lbs would be better ?

I am not sure. There is a method to get an approximation spring weight using the lever formula: www.translatorscafe.com/unit-converter/en-US/calculator/lever-mechanical-advantage/ . Or if you can see how much your old spring deflects with 100 lb weight on it. If the old spring compress 0.1" with 100 lbs load, then its a 1000 lb per in spring. I know its not very easy to do but it can be done.

What kind of oil is inside it?

I don't know. I did not open it up but I can feel the bubbles in the fluid if I turn it upside down.
