I agree with Cal's comment about the white Datsun when so many of the common muscle cars have been done with another crate motor awesome work becomes same old thing. That said if the top builders are competing with each they should start with the same car be it a Japanese, English or Italian then you have a contest.

I hated allegros growing up , a friend had two including a burgundy vanden plas with the RR style grill, he got someone to pump the suspension up on it (hydroelastic) but i assume he pumped it up too much - as it was like an offroader lol. Austin did some terrible cars - agro, marina, princess, ital - funny thing is I'd now love a Princess or ambassador restomod now with something ridiculous like a tesla plaid running gear (Same concept would also be amazing with a rover SD1) These two are off the charts though - amazing work, i cant wait to see them on track, along with Johnny's 👍
@aussiebloke609Ай бұрын
Your comment on SEMA is precisely why I watch this channel. Even the rumours of an upcoming Aston (from the Ring Brothers, I think) are still a moderately large GT with a front-engine V8, and I'd bet the drive train will become Americanized as the build progresses. You blokes have the Camaro...but you also have the two Integros, a series of Mk 1 Escorts, a whole stable of different Jag models...even a Landy, for eff's sake. It's more interesting - and likely a bit more of a challenge to take a design that fell out of the ugly tree and hit every branch on the way down, and turn it into something with presence, like those Allegros are looking currently. You blokes are really creative, not following a well-trodden formula.

*QUESTION:* Have you guys ever considered doing your own platform architecture for vehicle projects similar to the Allegro (body over different chassis), adaptable for projects of various widths, wheelbases, overall lengths etc.? The idea being that you already have a modular system to call upon where parts and processes can be standardised. Just a thought.

Why do I get the feeling that a cursed LS might not be polluting this fine car? They are widely available while a twin supercharged Aston V8 from the Virage-based LM 500 isn't. I used to be the groundsman at Aston Workshop and had the pleasure of seeing one of these monsters close up. This in stock form would give over 500bhp and with further fettling such as a 7 litre conversion could give even more.

Nat, I have seen your shop use Vintage Air materials previously; can they make those evaporator sections in a right hand drive? Or give you enough info to 3D model it and install their innards? The box you are using on the XJ was designed for a left hand drive car- bet you can't guess what hand their home market drives on- but I'm thinking with a bit of ingenuity, the same basic parts would fit in a box that would work better in a right hand drive- and I'll bet they would work with you if you called- great stuff, really good customer relations and engineering people from my experience. Cal, glad to hear you are hanging out with "motor head royalty"! You have worked hard to get to where you are- I hope that client and budget comes along to "do SEMA"- Retropower can get in the ring with that lot ! To all the "guys in the back room" that help make Cal and Nat look really good- as Elvis would say "Thank you, thank you very much"- watching what you all do is awesome every weekly update- I have yet to feel disappointed at how one of your projects turn out- they sound simple when N&C first explain them, and then the head scratching begins!

Be careful with joining all the V12 intake runners at the throttle body, it causes the air distribution to the cylinders to be unbalanced. This makes some of the cylinders run rich and some lean which causes pistons to melt. There is a reason why the standard Jaguar V12 manifold has a plenum and it is not for good looks.....
@stuartstephensАй бұрын
I'm sure the cost of shipping a car there and back would be prohibitive, but I'd think most any of the cars from your shop would be a big hit at SEMA.

Max effort/max budget cars don't always mean "cool" to most car guys. And most of those SEMA builds are 100% undriveable. So, at least for me, they're entering into the same realm as 3D car renders from the Kyza or RobertDesign. At some point, they're more art pieces than actual vehicles.
