V-Tec is dope I think it gave Hondas such a great character with such a dual personality because they got exceptional mpg when not getting up the rpm’s but screamed when you drop your lead foot! I love the screaming nature of Honda and they influenced a lot of car companies to create their own iteration of such thing to aid in fuel economy while accentuating spirited driving in higher rpms!

My first experience was actually with VVTI in the driving school Corolla. We were merging on the highway and the instuctor (a car enthusiast) said "shit more traffic than expected. You're gonna have to gun it." I gunned it and then the Corolla made a bunch of angry vvt sounds at about 4000 rpm and I laughed my ass off. Never before have I made a car produce so much sound, with so little forward momentum. 🤣

Yeah same in my Celica GT VVTI Carry’s power all the way through the rev range so you never really feel a drop off in power, and at 4k rpm the engine really comes alive. Now the 2zz, that engine is amazing. I just didn’t like on the corners, I had to fight to keep it in lift lol
@ctrl-alt-bingo2 жыл бұрын

@omarawilson28532 жыл бұрын
@グルグ plus the 2ZZ and pretty much any Toyota engine of the time (1zz Celica owner here) could use its power better because of the VVTI technology along side lift. VVTI allowed the intake side to be adjust accordingly due to engine load and other factors like going up and downhill, where as standard VVT didn’t do this, it basically locks within two positions open or closed. That’s part of the reason the 2ZZ has such a big kick at 6k rpm. Amazing engineering on Yamaha and Toyota’s part

What??? Integra over 86??? I respect you choice but I personally wouldn’t have switch. Both are great cars tho!

My TSX has it… some form of it. K24a2. At the crank it has 200-205hp, but that’s only in VTEC. Otherwise I swear it feels like my Olds Alero. Just a slow Honda lol. No disrespect to Honda though. These things last forever.

@omarawilson28532 жыл бұрын
VANOS is cool tho. It’s basically dual VVT and gives you optimum power on the intake and exhaust, loose to my VVTI, which only optimizes the Intake side. It’s a great technology. I don’t know about this reliability tho.
