I am an American retired in the Philippines and I own a Kei van. There is a huge industry here which converts these to left hand drive and will customize them into 2 or 4door pickups or vans. I have had mine up to 100 km/h (62 mph) but my 660 cc turbo motor was absolutely screaming to sustain that. There are very few places here where you can drive that fast. I don't recommend them for highway driving in America. They are great for city driving because they are small and speeds are slow here. My speeds here are 20-40 kph because the traffic is incredibly heavy here. If you crash a kei truck at high speed you will be very seriously injured or killed. For a big American I recommend the Suzukis because the cab is bigger and there is more headroom. I was forced to get an automatic because my feet are size 15 and just too big to manipulate all three pedals.
